This machine can improve the internal tooth surface accuracy of medium-sized gears with an outer diameter of less than 250mm
Nidec Machine Tools Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of the Nidec Group, will begin selling a new internal gear grinding machine "ZI25A", which can perform high-speed and high-precision machining of internal gears used in planetary gear mechanisms such as automotive drive units and transmissions, and robot joints. Against the backdrop of increasing demands for gear durability, transmission efficiency, and NVH (Noise, Vibration, Harshness) performance, the demand for larger gears has increased significantly compared to the past, and this model is designed to meet this demand.
Nidec Machine Tool Co., Ltd. will exhibit a real machine at the Japan International Machine Tool Show (JIMTOF2024) held from November 5 to 10, using a gear workpiece with an outer diameter of 250mm for demonstration. At the same time, the results of the "mass production internal gear polishing (grinding) processing method" jointly researched with the RWTH Aachen University in Germany will also be introduced.
ZI25A inherits the high precision, high efficiency and low cost production characteristics of the mass production internal gear grinding machine "ZI20A" launched in 2009, and increases the maximum outer diameter from 200mm to 250mm to meet the processing needs of larger gears.
This product features high-precision, high-efficiency and low-cost processing, and can eliminate heat treatment stress deformation of ring gears (internal gears) used in automobiles and robots. In high-precision and high-efficiency processing, the high-speed and high-precision synchronization of the grinding wheel spindle (maximum speed 15,000 min-1) and the workpiece table (maximum speed 6,000 min-1) enables the generation grinding process . In addition, when grinding internal teeth, by setting a large axis angle (the inclination of the spindle relative to the grinding workpiece axis) of 20 to 35 degrees*1, the interference between the axis and the tooth surface is avoided, and the friction speed (grinding speed) is increased. At the same time, the grinding wheel is threaded and the diameter of the central part of the tooth width is increased to form a barrel shape, which can increase the axis angle between the grinding wheel axis and the workpiece axis, achieving high-efficiency processing. In addition, in order to better manage the accuracy during the dressing process of the grinding wheel forming, an online dressing method is adopted, which can achieve high-precision dressing and mass production without removing the grinding wheel from the equipment.
In terms of low-cost production, Nidec Machine Tool Co., Ltd. has carried out a joint research project with the RWTH Aachen University in Germany to extend the service life of grinding wheels. The ZI25A uses a grinding wheel suitable for large-diameter workpieces that can maintain its sharpness and durability even under high load conditions, reducing tool costs compared to previous products.
