AIMB-278 12th/13th Generation Intel Core Processor Mini-ITX Motherboard High-Performance Solution Helps Boost Computing Performance
Recently, Advantech, a provider of embedded IoT solutions, launched the AIMB-278 industrial motherboard. The AIMB-278 uses the 12th/13th generation Intel® Core™ processor and utilizes DDR5 and PCIe x16 Gen 5 to provide excellent throughput. At the same time, it supports the expansion of M.2 M key and M.2 E key, as well as rich I/O (6 x USB 3.2 Gen 2, 4 independent displays, up to 4K), enhancing large-scale data transmission and image processing capabilities. In addition, it is the first product in the AIMB Mini-ITX series to utilize a 2.5GbE LAN port design. Supporting Windows and Ubuntu, the AIMB-278 is an ideal choice for applications such as medical imaging and ultra-speed test and measurement that require high performance.
High computing power speeds up analysis and improves data accuracy
Compared with the previous generation solution, Advantech AIMB-278 improves overall performance by 40% with the 16-core i9-12900E. With the hybrid architecture of the 12th generation Intel® Core™ processor, the hybrid architecture of performance cores and efficiency cores greatly accelerates the single-threaded execution and response speed of computationally intensive workloads, as well as the multi-threaded function of synchronous background tasks. AIMB-278 supports up to 64GB of DDR5 4800MHz, which improves the data rate and stability of applications that require high-speed digital design, and ensures the computing efficiency of medical imaging and testing equipment. In addition, AIMB-278 has a powerful steel PCIe x16 Gen 5 (32GT/s) expansion slot for installing large-size GPU cards - including the NVIDIA RTX series (for example, the RTX A5000 with 27.8TFLOPS), giving this product AI function deep learning inference capabilities.
Rich I/O interfaces provide excellent transmission capabilities
AIMB-278 utilizes 2.5GbE Ethernet to quickly transfer data, ensuring stable, high-resolution real-time video streaming, while providing 6 USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports to improve data conversion efficiency at the edge at speeds of up to 10Gpbs. It supports M.2 M-key for NVMeSSD, which increases data transfer volume by 25 times compared to SATA, improves read and write speeds, and extends service life. Similarly, it also supports M.2 E-key, which enables wireless operation even in unmanned or dust-free working conditions. All in all, the rich expansion and I/O interfaces of AIMB-278 ensure excellent computing processing performance.
Embedded software services enable remote management
AIMB-278 supports the Ubuntu operating system for edge computing devices, and uses WISE-DeviceOn intelligent network software for equipment monitoring and predictive maintenance, ensuring 7x24h remote control, suitable for multi-machine automation control, and helping customers effectively reduce management costs. In addition, WISE-DeviceOn can solve faults and errors in smart factory applications by restarting, helping users avoid system failures through real-time hardware, software, and peripheral device monitoring, thereby improving productivity and reducing time consumption. It can be seen that Advantech's WISE-DeviceOn software can provide support for stable operation and convenient remote management of IoT devices. Advantech's Mini-ITX industrial motherboards are innovative and reliable, and include corresponding software value-added services. Stable product quality and long-term technical support combined with embedded-level operating systems provide customers with ideal solutions to help customers shorten time to market.
