On July 21 this year, the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN) released an update to the Global Red List of Threatened Species, officially announcing the extinction of the Yangtze River endemic species, the Chinese sturgeon (Psephurus gladius), a national first-class protected wild animal, and the extinction of the Yangtze River sturgeon (Acipenser dabryanus) in the wild, once again sounding the alarm for people to protect biodiversity and endangered animals.

Rivers and freshwater biodiversity are vital to humans and nature, but global freshwater biodiversity is continuing to lose. This shows that biodiversity is vital to the development of humans and nature, and environmental awareness of protecting biodiversity needs to be further strengthened. As China's largest river that has nurtured the Chinese culture for thousands of years, the Yangtze River Basin has inherited countless cultural classics and natural beauty, and thousands of creatures are nourished by the river water. It is the most typical river that embodies biodiversity and is also an important habitat and breeding place for many rare and endangered aquatic wild animals in my country. According to statistics, there are more than 300 species of freshwater fish in the Yangtze River Basin, including more than 140 species of endemic fish, including national first and second level key protected aquatic wild animals and Yangtze River endemic species. Among the many species that live and breed in the Yangtze River, the flagship species Yangtze River dolphin, known as the "smiling angel", lives here, becoming the "most beautiful smile of the Yangtze River", and also touching people's heartstrings for the protection of rare animals.

Protecting the most beautiful smile of the Yangtze River, public welfare science education starts from "babies"

In order to inspire and strengthen people's awareness of Yangtze River dolphins and environmental protection, Intel has joined hands with experts and scholars in popular science education to develop a series of public welfare courses titled "Explore the Yangtze River and Learn Diverse Ecology", and together with the China Association for Science and Technology, it has led young people to discover the diverse beauty of the Yangtze River and stimulate scientific interest and environmental awareness. The course consists of 8 lessons, starting with the introduction of the concept and significance of biodiversity, combined with my country's endangered animal protection measures and hometown ecological protection cases, to create a public welfare course on Yangtze River ecological protection in an entertaining way of popular science, animated videos and other digital forms, and combined with the ecological protection characteristics of the Yangtze River coast, to show the charm and importance of biodiversity, and to cultivate young people to always observe the ecological situation around them. This series of public welfare courses will benefit young students, allowing them to learn to respect and love nature, and lead them to discover the diverse beauty of the Yangtze River. This will further promote community publicity and promotion, calling on everyone to participate in environmental protection.

As one of the main members of this course project team, Dr. Zhao Bo, a lecturer at the Jinghengyi School of Education of Hangzhou Normal University, has been deeply engaged in scientific education for many years. Regarding this public welfare education course, he said: "Popular science education helps to stimulate the creative wisdom and innovative enthusiasm of the whole society and promote the high-quality development of popular science. Environmental education is one of the mainstream topics today. I am very happy to see that companies have taken pioneering actions in environmental protection. We have jointly created such a set of digital public welfare courses on Yangtze River ecological protection that are both educational and entertaining. The development of such a thematic course is in line with the times and meets the actual needs of national and social development. I hope that this course can become a bridge between schools, families and communities, so that students can spontaneously form environmental awareness and plant the seeds of green environmental protection in their hearts ."

As a leading company in the semiconductor industry that upholds the principle of "Technology for Good", Intel actively participates in the development and promotion of this series of science courses, making due contributions to science education. Intel has always been committed to creating technology that changes the world and benefits everyone on the planet. As a practitioner of green beauty, Intel is very pleased to see that this set of public welfare courses developed by science education experts and scholars will benefit countless young people, and looks forward to it contributing to the promotion of environmental education. At the same time, it also hopes to help promote environmental education with the Yangtze River dolphin as the core, and ignite young people's passion for science! Intel hopes to always have a passion for environmental protection and use technology to achieve beauty. "

Intel takes corporate social responsibility first and actively fulfills its sustainable development responsibilities

Intel is not only keen on promoting public welfare and environmental education, but also, as a leading company in the semiconductor industry, fully utilizes its technological advantages to benefit society. It not only uses VR technology to help autistic children get out of the "Lonely Planet", uses AI and drone technology to protect the Great Wall, but also uses AI and visual processing solutions to protect the habitat of Siberian tigers, truly embodying Intel's concept of Do Something Wonderful, allowing technology to directly reach the beautiful .

Intel has always been committed to creating world-changing technology that benefits everyone on Earth. In China, Intel actively fulfills its corporate social responsibility and promises to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions from global operations by 2040. To this end, it has also set a mid-term milestone for 2030, which includes not only achieving carbon neutral computing to address climate change, advocating sustainable manufacturing and sustainable chemistry, but also achieving multiple operational and supply chain goals, and achieving sustainable development in terms of emission reduction, energy conservation, water conservation, renewable energy, and zero landfill of waste, and has achieved significant results.

Working together for a better future for the planet

As a practitioner of green and beautiful things, Intel actively participates in public welfare activities such as popular science education and ecological protection, starting from children, calling for the importance of ecological environmental protection. In the future, Intel will adhere to the concept of "creating technology that changes the world and benefits everyone on the earth", explore more possibilities for sustainable development, and use technology to make the earth a better place.
