Siemens launches Xcelerator open digital business platform to accelerate digital transformation
• Siemens Xcelerator platform integrates a selected business portfolio, a growing partner ecosystem, and an iterative online trading platform to accelerate value creation in industries such as industry, buildings, power grids, and transportation
• A portfolio of IoT hardware, software and digital services that follows key design principles such as interoperability, flexibility, openness and “as a service”
• Launched Building X, a new end-to-end smart building software-as-a-service (SaaS) suite
• The planned acquisition of Brightly Software will further improve Siemens’ smart building portfolio and accelerate Siemens’ growth in this area
• Collaborating with NVIDIA in the industrial metaverse to develop immersive digital twin technology based on the physical world and advance the development of a partner ecosystem
Siemens has launched an open digital business platform: Siemens Xcelerator, which helps companies of all sizes in the fields of industry, buildings, power grids and transportation accelerate digital transformation and value creation. With this business platform, digital transformation will be easier, faster and more scalable. Siemens Xcelerator integrates the preferred IoT business portfolio (including IoT hardware, software and digital services from Siemens and certified third parties), a growing partner ecosystem, and a continuously iterating online trading platform to support interaction and cooperation between customers, partners and developers.
Roland Busch, Chairman of the Board, President and CEO of Siemens, said: "Siemens Xcelerator will make it easier than ever for companies to embark on a digital transformation journey, and make transformation faster and easier to scale. By connecting operations and information technology, and integrating the physical and digital worlds, we will enable our customers and partners to improve productivity and competitiveness, and achieve innovation at scale."
“Siemens’ advanced business portfolio is transforming towards more open digital applications, with more cloud computing and “as a service” solutions, as well as sustainably upgraded IoT hardware. At the same time, with the help of a thriving partner ecosystem, collaboration will reach new heights.”
"Today's launch of Siemens Xcelerator, this week's acquisition of Brightly Software, and the deepening of our partnership with NVIDIA are key milestones in Siemens' strategy to accelerate high-quality growth," said Boleren.
Make digital transformation easier, faster and more scalable
The open digital business platform facilitates interaction and collaborative innovation among customers, partners, developers and other parties to achieve win-win value. With the launch of Siemens Xcelerator, Siemens is gradually transforming its entire hardware and software portfolio towards modularity, cloud connectivity and unified standard application programming interfaces (APIs). Strong technical and commercial management principles will ensure the highest standards and value for all partners. Siemens and third-party products will follow design principles such as interoperability, flexibility, openness and "as a service" model.
Siemens also plans to integrate its Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) solutions for the industrial sector into Industrial Operations X, which comprehensively integrates solutions and applications from sensors to the edge and then to the cloud, IoT as a service business, low-code development capabilities, and a wide range of ready-to-use applications. It integrates data from the real automation world with the digital world supported by information technology, and is further enriched by Siemens' comprehensive industry IT/OT integration knowledge and capabilities. Breaking down data silos will help companies improve their performance, production efficiency, flexibility and sustainable development capabilities in all aspects.
Strategic partnership with NVIDIA opens a new era of immersive digital twin technology
Siemens continues to expand on the basis of existing strategic partnerships, combining the strengths of companies of different sizes with the goal of building a more powerful partner ecosystem.
The cooperation between Siemens and NVIDIA is the first important cooperation based on the Siemens Xcelerator open digital business platform. The two companies announced that they will expand their partnership to jointly build an industrial metaverse, explore the application scenarios of AI-driven digital twin technology, and take industrial automation a step further. As the first step of the cooperation, the two parties plan to connect Siemens Xcelerator and NVIDIA's 3D design and collaboration platform Omniverse, and use Siemens' digital models based on the physical world and NVIDIA's real-time simulation technology that combines artificial intelligence with the laws of nature to jointly build an industrial metaverse to help companies make decisions quickly and accurately.
Confirm digital growth strategy and goals
The launch of Siemens Xcelerator platform is an important step for Siemens to implement its digitalization strategy. Based on this platform, Siemens will release huge value for existing and new customers, especially new small and medium-sized enterprise customers.
As part of this announcement, Siemens confirms its growth target for digital business announced at last year’s Capital Markets Day event, which is to achieve a compound annual growth rate of approximately 10% over the business cycle. In fiscal 2021, Siemens’ digital business revenue was EUR 5.6 billion. The launch of the Siemens Xcelerator platform is not only in line with Siemens’ transformation to an “as a service” model, but will also support the achievement of its annual recurring revenue growth target.
Boleren said: "This is an inevitable step in the implementation of our digital strategy to accelerate innovation and value creation. Based on the Siemens Xcelerator open digital business platform, Siemens, as a dedicated technology company, will work together with the thriving ecosystem to enable enterprises to easily start digital transformation, so that customers of all sizes can benefit from the speed and scale of transformation."
