Rockwell Automation Promotes Broad Implementation of Common Industrial Protocol (CIP) Security Protocol with New Proxy Device
(Shanghai, China, July 13, 2021) Industrial companies can now use Allen-Bradley CIP Security Proxy proxy devices from Rockwell Automation to widely implement industrial protocol security protocols (hereinafter collectively referred to as "CIP Security") in their systems. In the past, industrial networks had little built-in security. Today, with the increasing connectivity of enterprises, industrial companies need to consider the security of industrial networks more than ever before. With CIP Security Proxy, users can implement CIP Security on most devices in their network, helping to protect factory operations, even if the factory uses older systems.
CIP Security Proxy can be used with EtherNet/IP-compatible devices to help achieve security for the entire network. CIP Security is part of Rockwell Automation's industrial control system information security defense-in-depth strategy to prevent security threat actors from remotely invading and carrying out malicious attacks through the network. It can accurately provide CIP Security for a single device, thus adding another layer of security protection to the system.
The CIP Security Proxy device can be configured through Rockwell Automation's FactoryTalk Policy Manager software and FactoryTalk System Services. The device supports motion control of Kinetix drives and provides a Web server for viewing diagnostic information. It also supports system security logs and a rotary switch for setting the 192.168.1.xyz IP address. At the same time, the proxy device also has 3 Gigabit EtherNet/IP ports and can operate in a temperature range of -25 ℃ to 70 ℃, which improves ease of use.
For products without built-in CIP Security, the CIP Security Proxy device can also develop a roadmap for users and add this unique migration roadmap to the CIP Security architecture. At the same time, it also opens up new paths for products that do not support CIP Security. With the application of this independent and easier-to-use hardware solution, Rockwell Automation will better help customers in the manufacturing industry to protect the security of the Industrial Internet.
