In 2017, collaborative robots are still in the stage of exploration and competition. Although foreign collaborative robots have occupied a large market share and have also made extensive technical patent layouts, they also have weaknesses such as immature technology, high prices and inadequate services. Let's follow the industrial control editor to learn about the relevant content.

Domestic robots take advantage of their local advantages and break away from foreign technology thinking. They have huge opportunities to highlight their own advantages and are expected to quickly occupy the market. Han's Robotics has gathered its strengths and taken a different approach, focusing on collaborative robots.

  Robot chess emerges

Han's Motor is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the listed company Han's Laser, and was founded in 2005. Wang Guangneng, as one of the founders and core technical backbone, also joined Han's Motor in 2005 and has been playing the role of the company's "brain".

As artificial intelligence technology is rapidly being implemented, simple industrial automation can no longer meet the actual needs of production. Therefore, the Han's Robotics Research Institute was officially launched in 2014, with Wang Guangneng as the first dean of the institute.

In 2017, Han's Motor announced two major events: first, it separated its robotics division into a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Han's Group - Shenzhen Han's Robotics Co., Ltd., with Wang Guangneng as the general manager of Han's Robotics; second, it launched a new type of human-machine collaborative robot.

It is understood that in 2017, Han's Motor's performance in the core components and automation fields doubled, with annual revenue reaching 600 million yuan. Wang Guangneng believes that robots, like core components, require solid basic skills in software and hardware research and development. In this regard, Han's Robot has a natural advantage.

Today, Han's Group has almost covered the entire industrial chain in the field of robotics, from the research and development of key components such as reducers, servo drives, sensors, and vision, to the development of rectangular coordinate robots, AGVs, SCARA, DELTA, and six-axis robots, to drones, service robots, and system integration for various industries. Han's Group has touched upon almost all areas of robotics.

Currently, Han's Robotics is readjusting its business structure, and its original new type of human-machine collaborative robot has become its star product with unlimited prospects.

Aiming at the core of collaborative robots

"Han's is serious about making robots. We must focus on the core and not just the superficial." Wang Guangneng said: "Although foreign companies have been making core components for robots for decades, they still cannot meet the needs of the Chinese market. It is necessary for us to master the core components."

Wang Guangneng introduced that the human-machine collaborative robot is the dark horse product of Han's Robotics. Not only are all the core components independently developed, but all the technical routes are original. Its performance advantages and cost-effectiveness are leading in the world.

This human-machine collaborative robot named "Elfin" adopts a unique dual-joint modular structure design, which is convenient for assembly and maintenance. It has a novel and smooth appearance. Its controller and each switch use EtherCAT bus communication, and it can still have very good anti-interference performance at a control frequency of 10KHz. The high-rigidity design enables its repetition accuracy to reach ±0.03mm, and it can be used in integrated automation product lines, welding, grinding, assembly, picking, painting and other workplaces.

Elfin has functions such as "traction teaching", "automatic load detection" and "graphical programming interface", which enable operators to quickly control the robot to perform automated operations, greatly lowering the threshold for robot use.

Compared with similar products on the market, the Elfin robot can realize the function of direct air supply at the air inlet end of the base. Therefore, for the end actuators such as cylinders or nozzles, the Elfin robot can have a hollow air path without the need for complex external air pipes. It is easy to assemble, has a neat appearance, and is convenient for automated layout.

Secondly, the Elfin robot terminal supports communication interfaces such as CAN/485, and can be perfectly combined with end effectors such as smart cameras and force-controlled grippers.

In addition, the Elfin robot's controller can import the 3D model of the entire automation system and perform dynamic simulation. At the same time, it can control the robot body through the real-time industrial Ethernet EtherCAT, and the simulation and actual movement are perfectly synchronized.

Han's Robotics has also opened the Elfin robot interface to the outside world, allowing third-party controller developers to use their own controllers to directly control Han's robots via EtherCAT, and has released example source code for real-time control of Elfin via ROS.
