On July 4, 2023, WPG Holdings, a leading international semiconductor component distributor dedicated to the Asia-Pacific market, announced that its subsidiary WPI has launched a high-voltage DC brushless motor drive solution based on the Artery AT32F413 chip.

The motor is the core of all electronic equipment, and its performance often affects the operating quality and service life of electronic equipment. Traditional brushed motors have high energy consumption and the magnetic brushes are prone to sparks, which will seriously affect operational safety. Therefore, with the continuous innovation of motor technology, various energy-saving applications have gradually chosen to use DC brushless motors with higher energy efficiency, longer life, and motor drives that can be fine-tuned through software to replace traditional motors. Against this background, WPG World Peace has launched a high-voltage DC brushless motor drive solution based on the Arteli AT32F413 chip.

Artery was founded in 2016. It is a chip (MCU) design company dedicated to promoting innovation in 32-bit microcontrollers. It has leading high-end chip R&D technology, a complete silicon intellectual property library, and professional and flexible integration experience. The company adheres to the concept of self-development and focuses on the R&D and innovation of 32-bit microcontrollers based on Arm® Cortex®-M4/M0+, and can continuously provide the industry with high-performance, high-reliability and competitive products.
The AT32F413 used in this solution is a high-performance 32-bit MCU with an Arm® Cortex®-M4 core from Arteli, with a maximum main frequency of 200MHz. The chip has a built-in single precision floating-point unit (FPU) and digital signal processor (DSP), and is equipped with a rich set of peripherals and a flexible clock control mechanism to meet the needs of a variety of applications. In addition, the AT32F413 also has a complete memory design, which can support up to 256KB flash memory (Flash) and 64KB random access memory (SRAM), and its flash memory performs zero-wait performance, surpassing the industry's same-level chip level. In addition, the MCU has a wealth of peripherals and communication resources, allowing users to integrate peripheral switches and communication control when designing motor-related applications.

In addition to the core AT32F413 MCU, this solution also uses Vishay's bridge rectifiers and current sensors, Onsemi's buck converters, regulators, comparators, IPM modules, SGMICRO's buck converters and operational amplifiers, NXP's CAN, MaxLinear's encoders and other products. With these products, the solution realizes AC input 100~240V/100W motor drive, which can be applied to various small-power household appliances. And thanks to AT32F413RBT7, the solution also reserves various motor control feedback signal receiving ports and communication ports on the development board, and separates each power supply block, which can be used by users more easily and diversely during the development process.
