Infineon Technologies Launches New OptiMOS™ 7 40V MOSFET Family for Automotive Applications with Improved On-Resistance, Higher Switching Efficiency and Design Robustness
[Munich, Germany, May 12, 2023 ] Infineon Technologies AG launches the OptiMOS™ 7 40V MOSFET series. As Infineon's latest generation of power MOSFETs for automotive applications, OptiMOS™ 7 40V MOSFETs are available in a variety of pinless, rugged power packages. This series of products uses 300 mm thin wafer technology and innovative packaging, which has significant performance advantages over other devices with micro-packages. This makes the new MOSFET an ideal choice for all standard and future automotive 40V MOSFET applications, such as electric power steering systems, braking systems, disconnect switches and new regional architectures. The OptiMOS 7 series can also be used for battery management, electronic fuse boxes, and DC-DC and BLDC drives.
“The OptiMOS 7 40V MOSFET family will set new standards in power density, current capability and chip robustness,” said Axel Hahn, Senior Vice President of the Automotive MOSFET Product Line at Infineon Technologies . “The family uses leading-edge technology to deliver excellent efficiency and power in a compact design. These semiconductor devices offer outstanding power density and efficiency while featuring the industry’s lowest on-resistance.”
The new OptiMOS family of products reduces switching losses and improves the robustness of the safe operating area (SOA) and high avalanche current capability. As a result, they facilitate the design of future efficient automotive applications. The device family is available in a variety of rugged automotive-grade power packages, including TDSON-8, HSOF-5, HSOF-8 and top-cooled packages. Thanks to the compact form factor, the family significantly reduces space requirements while increasing system efficiency. In addition, the new products improve cooling while reducing system costs. With these devices, designers can easily design products and applications with outstanding quality.
Availability
The OptiMOS 40 V series is already in production and the first products can be ordered starting in August 2023.
