Diodes Incorporated Introduces Three-Stage Programmable Slew-Rate Control Power Switch to Simplify and Enhance Power Rail Management in SSDs

[January 5, 2023, Plano, Texas, USA] Diodes Incorporated (Diodes) has launched a new versatile single-channel high-side power switch. The AP22980 can select three different voltage conversion rates, so it can handle a wider range of capacitive loads while maintaining low inrush current to ensure system stability . This power switch is ideal for solid-state data storage systems deployed in portable electronic devices, computer hardware, and edge data centers.


AP22980 has an N-channel MOSFET with a built-in charge pump, and an extremely low Rds(ON) of only 5.1mΩ, so high current load applications can reach 6A, and significantly reduce voltage drop and power loss. This component has an independent bias (VBIAS) pin, so the minimum input voltage supported is greatly reduced, thereby expanding the input voltage range (from 0.285V to 5.5V), adding application flexibility.


The AP22980 (typical) has a quiescent supply current of 60µA , making it the best choice if low standby power consumption is the first requirement. The device operates over a temperature range of -40°C to 105°C. When the junction temperature exceeds 150°C, the thermal protection mechanism is triggered.


The AP22980 three-stage selectable voltage slew rate power switch is packaged in a compact W-QFN1520 package, requiring very little board space for easy integration.
