Vishay Intertechnology Launches New FRED Pt® Fifth Generation Hyperfast and Ultrafast Recovery Rectifiers, Dramatically Reducing Conduction and Switching Losses
600 V and 1200 V devices improve efficiency in automotive, solar and UPS applications
MALVERN, Pennsylvania — September 13, 2022 — Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. recently announced the launch of 15 new FRED Pt® fifth-generation 600 V and 1200 V Hyperfast and Ultrafast recovery rectifiers in a small SOT-227 package. Vishay Semiconductors rectifiers have advanced conduction and switching losses in similar devices, improving the efficiency of high-frequency inverters and soft-switching or resonant circuits.
The devices released today can be used with MOSFETs or high-speed IGBTs for PFC, output rectifier stages of electric (EV)/hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) battery charging stations, boost stages of solar inverters, and UPS. In these applications, rectifier conduction losses are lower than previous generation devices, while reverse recovery losses are low. In addition, the semiconductor devices in the SOT-227 package are insulated from the copper substrate, making it easy to build universal heat sinks and small assemblies.
30A / 600 V devices are in single-phase bridge configuration, 60 A - 300 A / 600 V - 1200 V devices are in dual-diode configuration. Rectifiers are available in two speed types: X-type Hyperfast and H-type Ultrafast. The advantage of H-type rectifiers is low conduction losses, while the advantage of X-type rectifiers is fast recovery speed. Device operating temperature reaches +175 °C.
Device Specifications:
Samples of the new FRED Pt rectifiers are available now. Production lead times are 26 weeks.
