Control Techniques, a member of the Nidec Group, will launch the new member of the Commander drive series "COMMANDER S" and the innovative Marshal APP.
Commander S has several outstanding features:
1. Provide a solution for plug-and-play convenience out of the box. It is easy to install, easy to use, reliable and cost-effective.
2. It can be installed on the guide rail, so users can easily install the driver. It is small and can be installed side by side, so it can save cabinet space, which is very precious. The terminal silk screen is printed with laser for easy identification, and the angled terminal is convenient for screw entry and cable access.
3. Adopting brand-new components and innovative manufacturing methods. 100% conformal coating process protects the driver from moisture, corrosion and dust, ensuring the robustness and reliability of the product.
4. Optimized for simple application conditions. To help users reduce total cost, the driver has built-in basic functions such as intelligent fan control, onboard Modbus RTU and integrated C1 EMC filter. It also meets the energy efficiency requirements of the EU Energy-saving Design Directive.
Marshal revolutionizes the way users interact with drives, including debugging, monitoring, diagnostics and support. With NFC technology, Marshal allows the drive to be debugged while powered off, and parameters can be copied from one drive to another, even if the drive is still in the box. Marshal provides real-time diagnostics even when the drive is powered off, and step-by-step instructions will help users correct problems and get the drive back up and running. Users can also easily share waveforms and drive configurations as PDF files via email, WhatsApp or other instant messaging software.
The Marshal app makes communication with Commander S simple and fast. Available for Android and iOS, it uses NFC technology to set up the drive in just 60 seconds and provides simple setup routines tailored for different applications. The FastStart menu, accessible via the Marshal, provides assisted commissioning, with just four key settings required to get the motor up and running.
Anthony Pickering, President of Control Techniques, highlighted the presence of NFC in everyday life and how the technology is bringing a disruptive user experience to the general purpose drives market. "NFC is everywhere in our lives, we use it to pay in shops, for example. We knew it was a technology we had to master and we have implemented it in Commander S. This is disruptive to the industry and changes the entire customer experience from installation to programming. The innovation we bring to the market is to continuously evolve our products and surrounding services and we are proud of what we have achieved with this new drive. Commander S allows for quick installation and commissioning and it is green! This colour takes us back to the early days of Control Techniques when we were known as the Green Drives Company. We believe that heritage is important and we have a solid foundation with almost 50 years of experience. Green is a symbol that pays homage to the past and drives the future."
