Unique product in the 2A, 60W series with time-saving and space-saving design concept
Pickering Interfaces, a leading manufacturer of signal switching and simulation solutions for electronic test and verification, today announced a new PXI multiplexer module (40-619 series) that allows test engineers to monitor the switch status of any channel. The 40-619 series modules have the same performance as the general single-pole 2A 60W multiplexer modules, but use a second set of relays to determine the status of the multiplexer channels. An additional monitoring switch on each multiplexer channel allows the user to check with external measurement equipment that the multiplexer channel is indeed "off" before applying the test signal. This feature is very useful in practical applications to prevent damage to the device under test due to improper signal application.

The 40-619 series adds a new multiplexing monitoring function to Pickering's existing products. All 9 products in the series, ranging from 16:1 to 128:1, have this new function, which enhances the flexibility of test system design. This series of products uses high-quality electromagnetic relays (EMR) that can switch loads up to 2A at 250VAC/DC. In addition, its compact size design only occupies one slot, which saves chassis space to the greatest extent while providing channel monitoring functions.
Steve Edwards, Pickering’s switch product manager, explains the new product: “The 40-619 series is a high density, low cost solution with integrated monitoring functionality. This eliminates the hassle of implementing a discrete switch topology with complex external wiring and additional test code. The new product is designed for signal routing in automated test systems (ATE) and data acquisition systems where it is necessary to confirm channel status before applying a test signal.”
In addition, the new module can also be supported by Pickering's eBIRST ™ diagnostic test tool. Like all Pickering products, the 40-619 series multiplexer monitoring module comes with a three-year warranty and comes with a spare relay. Therefore, if there is a problem with the module relay, customers with certain training and experience can perform on-site repairs themselves to minimize system downtime. In addition, Pickering also provides standard or customized interconnect accessories for the entire 40-619 series of products.
