Diodes Incorporated Launches 22V/31V Peak Selectable Output Piezoelectric Sounder Driver to Drive Higher SPLs and Operate Longer
Plano, Texas, USA, August 11, 2021 - Diodes Incorporated introduces the PAM8907 piezoelectric sounder driver, which maximizes sound pressure level through ceramic/piezoelectric sounders. The PAM8907 has a built-in synchronous boost converter that can extend the sound pressure level in battery-powered systems, outperforming similar sounder drivers. The device is optimized for wireless trackers, industrial alarm systems, medical instruments and home devices.
The PAM8907 sound generator driver supports a wide input voltage range of 1.8V to 5.5V to meet a variety of potential product applications. By selecting an output value of 22VPP or 31VPP peak (using universal input and output), two different sound pressure level options can be provided to optimize sound pressure level performance or battery operation time. Its integrated boost converter only requires a 1.0µH external inductor, which helps reduce material costs and circuit board space.
With a battery-powered system, the automatic shutdown and wake-up functions can further extend the operating time of the PAM8907 sounder driver in shutdown mode with a current consumption of less than 1μA. Built-in overtemperature shutdown, overcurrent and overvoltage protection, and low-voltage lockout mechanism ensure reliable operation. This product can operate normally in an ambient temperature range of -40°C to 125°C.
The PAM8907 piezoelectric sounder driver is available in a compact, space-saving 10-pin U-QFN2020 package.
