Fujitsu Semiconductor has launched an online design simulation tool for power management IC (PMIC) called Easy DesignSim™. Designers using Fujitsu's rich power management IC product line (such as converters, switches, power supplies and charging control devices, etc.) have comprehensive online design simulation and support for new online design simulation tools, saving time and cost for engineers when developing power management ICs. Using this method can accelerate the development of consumer electronics and portable devices, as well as medical electronics and office automation products. This tool was developed in cooperation with Fujitsu and Transim Technology Corporation.
Reduced power supply design time
You may ask, how does Easy DesignSim save a lot of time in power supply design? On the Fujitsu website, you can use the simulator to verify or test the design and power supply configuration. Fujitsu's philosophy is to provide customers with "right-sized" solutions, not just hardware components. This new tool will speed up the time for customers to bring their products to market, maintain high quality, and shorten design and testing time.
This tool can streamline the circuit diagram design on the power supply , provide developers with an effective method to select the appropriate power management IC, and significantly shorten the development process. It can automatically calculate the main power parameters such as I/O voltage, load current, power efficiency and switching frequency, and then simulate the action of the power supply online. Engineers then only need to observe the corresponding reactions generated by the simulation in the circuit diagram when changing the operating conditions and external device parameters.
If you choose a power management solution, you can also use Easy DesignSim to generate a bill of materials (BOM) that meets your project requirements and circuit diagram from the supplier's electronic component database, and you can also choose to output it as a Microsoft Excel or Adobe PDF document.
EasyDesignSim is a comprehensive online design support tool for power customers. The external components of each product, such as R, C, L, can be automatically calculated based on pre-set conditions such as input/output voltage and load current.
Fujitsu Semiconductor's proprietary SIMPLIS dynamic modeling engine can help you choose the right power management IC for your design. It can display some very useful information, such as load transient response, power up/down sequencing, efficiency estimation, and AC analysis. It can also recommend distributors and generate a complete bill of materials (BOM) list. The results can also be exported in Excel file format. It's easy to use .
As for the specific usage, it is available on the Fujitsu website. You first need to register and log in with your email address, company name, password, etc. Then select the product, search and set the required input voltage, output voltage and load current, number of channels for each DC-DC converter, and select the product from the list; click the button on the information to view the product information (data sheet), and then set the operating parameters such as input voltage, output voltage, output current, switching frequency; select the mode according to the product (PFM/PWM automatic switching, PWM fixed or frequency, etc.); click "Create Design" to generate a schematic diagram.
You can also change the simulation parameter settings, set the output current and Tr/Tf for transient analysis, and change the external components. You can set the external components in two ways: set the components of your choice or select the components in the BOM list. Start the analysis by clicking the button above the schematic to start the simulation, including AC analysis, transient analysis, steady-state analysis, startup and shutdown.
In the other window "WebScorp", simulation waveforms can be displayed to verify simulation results. Depending on the product, there are two types of efficiency graphs - measurement results under conditions close to the set conditions, and simulation results under the set conditions. By setting the parameters of external components, the accuracy of efficiency simulation data can be improved.
The components are listed on the schematic and can be downloaded in Excel format. The inventory or price of the components can be confirmed by selecting a distributor. Finally, there is a summary and PDF download, which will display all simulation information and can be downloaded in PDF format.
This tool supports some of Fujitsu's best-selling power management ICs, and more products are being added.
