Rohm, a well-known Japanese semiconductor manufacturer, has developed the "CSL0701/0801 series" of small, high-output surface -mount LEDs with lenses, which are the best products for autofocus auxiliary light sources for digital cameras or mobile phones with camera functions.
ROHM's new LED
Through ROHM's unique component processing technology and optical design, the industry's smallest 2924 size (2.9×2.4mm) was achieved, with a mounting area reduced by 65% and a height reduced by 30% compared to previous products, making it lighter and thinner.
In recent years, digital cameras and some mobile phones with camera functions have been rapidly developing towards miniaturization and high performance, so the requirements for miniaturization and thinness of the electronic components used are becoming higher and higher. In addition, as these devices become more multifunctional, the current is increasing, so the demand for products with lower power consumption is also increasing.
On the other hand, in order to accurately measure the focus, the lens LED used for the autofocus auxiliary light needs to emit sufficient light to the subject. Therefore, a hemispherical lens is generally used, which makes it difficult to achieve a small and thin design.
Since ROHM was the first in the industry to develop a side-view LED for autofocus assist light that can be automatically reflowed , related products have become increasingly miniaturized and high-performance, and have always maintained a high market share that they are proud of.
The LED developed this time uses a smaller light-emitting element and CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) technology optical design, and uses aspheric lenses using Rohm's exclusive mold technology , thus achieving the industry's smallest 2924 size (2.9×2.4mm) among aspheric lens surface mount LED products. Compared with previous products, the mounting area has been reduced by 65%, the height has been reduced by 30%, and it is lighter and thinner. In addition, due to improved heat dissipation characteristics, high output power can be achieved despite the small size. When designed with the same brightness as previous products, lower power consumption can also be achieved. In addition, in order to accurately receive light for distant objects, the optical axis deviation is controlled within ±3° in the design, and the package also has both top view and side view types, giving customers greater design freedom.
1) Achieve the smallest size in the industry, greatly reducing the installation area
As a surface mount LED with an aspherical lens , it has achieved the industry's smallest class 2924 size (2.9×2.4mm/top view type). The mounting area has been reduced by 65%, the height has been reduced by 30%, and it is even thinner and lighter.
2) High output power helps achieve lower power consumption
Although it is compact, it can achieve high output. For example, the power consumption when 50cd brightness is required can be reduced by about 25% compared with previous products. 3) Narrow directional angle and excellent directivity
It achieves ultra-narrow pointing characteristics, controls the optical axis deviation within ±3°, and enables high-precision autofocus.
4) We also have side-view products that can be surface mounted
Customers can freely choose from two types of models: top view type (CSL0701) and side view type (CSL0801) according to product design needs. The addition of the side view type enriches the product lineup and gives customers greater design freedom.
