As TV manufacturers continue to launch new LED TVs, people are increasingly turning their attention to this new generation of TVs with lower energy consumption and thinner bodies. According to authoritative organizations, as the market scale expands, the cost of LED TVs will further decline, and it is expected to surpass traditional LCD TVs within two years and become the mainstream of the market. Although many consumers are very interested in LED TVs, they do not know the difference between them and traditional LCD TVs.
In principle, LCD devices are somewhat like those advertising light boxes on the street. The light source behind them is diffused and evenly illuminated on the transparent film with the picture drawn on it, thus transmitting a bright picture. The LCD panel is like that layer of film, but the picture in it will change.
Traditional LCD devices all use CCFLS (cold cathode fluorescent lamp) as the light source. Although the name is very professional, we understand it as the fluorescent lamp used at home, but the lamp tube is very thin. The colors of many objects under fluorescent lamps are very strange, because the light it emits is not real daylight. The daylight we have long been accustomed to is composed of red, orange, yellow, green, cyan, blue, purple and other colors in a certain proportion. But the light of fluorescent lamps overemphasizes some colors, and lacks some colors.
So the problem arises, the light source color of the light box behind is not accurate enough, and the image produced after passing through the LCD panel naturally cannot overcome the inherent deficiency, resulting in color reproduction deviation. This is also one of the reasons why LCD monitors have always been difficult to satisfy professional users in terms of image display.
QUALIA005 expands the color gamut of LCD TVs to 105% of the NTSC standard, which can basically reproduce all the natural scenes we observe. Its core is the LED backlight system that replaces CCFL.
Advantages of LED backlight technology
Wider color gamut (exceeding NTSC and EBU color gamut) for more vivid colors; high brightness, and stable brightness and color performance within the lifespan; adjustable backlight white balance while ensuring overall contrast. When the user's video source switches between the computer and the DVD player, the white balance can be easily adjusted between 9600K and 6500K without sacrificing brightness and contrast; continuous array light source can be provided for large-size screens; real-time color management. Since the red, green and blue colors emit light independently, it is easy to accurately control the current display color characteristics; reduce the artificial traces of dynamic scenes without sacrificing brightness and life. Because the flickering frequency of traditional CCFL lamps is low, the display of dynamic scenes may cause screen jumps. LED backlight can flexibly adjust the light emission frequency, and the frequency is much higher than CCFL, so it can perfectly present motion pictures; large brightness adjustment range. It is easy to achieve LED power control, unlike CCFL, which has a threshold for the minimum brightness. Therefore, whether in bright outdoors or in a completely dark room, users can easily adjust the brightness of the display device to the most pleasing state; low electromagnetic radiation. LED light sources do not produce any radiation, nor do they contain toxic substances such as mercury, and can be described as green and environmentally friendly light sources; they have a wide operating temperature range, low voltage, and are impact-resistant. Because they use solid-state light-emitting devices, LED backlight sources have no delicate parts and are highly adaptable to the environment.
