Diodes Incorporated has launched the AP65200 synchronous DC/DC buck converter to enable electronic products to meet light load and standby energy efficiency standards. The converter can achieve an efficiency of up to 96% at a light load of 200mA, and can maintain an efficiency of more than 70% even when the load is as low as 20mA. The converter is highly integrated and requires very few external components, making it suitable for distributed power supply architectures in consumer electronic products such as TVs, displays, and set-top boxes.
The AP65200 operates from an input voltage range of 4.75V to 18V, providing a single device solution for 5V and 12V bus systems, delivering up to 2A of continuous current and 3A of peak current. The output voltage of the converter can be set from as low as 0.925V to as high as 16V using a simple external resistor divider.
The AP65200 in SO-8 package integrates low on-resistance high-side and low-side MOSFETs, which helps reduce board area and optimize wiring design. In addition, external programmable soft start, built-in overcurrent and over-temperature shutdown protection functions ensure system stability and reliability.
