Power converters, also known as AC converters, are mainly used for the conversion of AC power and deliver AC power to electrical appliances at a stable voltage. Power converters are also called differently in different parts of China, such as power strips, power strips, plug boards, wiring boards, and extension boards.

With the development of society, expensive and sophisticated household appliances have gradually enriched people's lives and entered thousands of households. Ordinary power converters that only have current conversion functions often cannot meet people's needs. Power converters need to protect household appliances while delivering current to them. Therefore, the second generation of new power converters was born. Depending on the configuration, new power converters often have overload protection, lightning protection, grounding detection (phase loss protection), surge protection (suppression of sharp pulses), etc., which play the role of stabilizing voltage and protecting household appliances. Power converters with these functions are household-level civilian voltage stabilized power supplies.

New power converter The overload protection function of the power converter is realized through a highly sensitive overload protector. When the total power of the appliances connected to the power converter exceeds the rated power (2500W in China), the protector switch will quickly cut off the power supply to ensure the safety of household circuits and electricity. The overload protector of the new power converter is often reusable. After eliminating the overload, pressing the switch can restore normal power consumption and restore the protection function. There is no need to replace the fuse before re-use like the old generation of power converters.

The lightning protection and surge protection functions of the new power converter are realized through the surge protection circuit SPD, which protects the electrical equipment from being damaged by lightning electromagnetic pulses or voltage spike pulses. There are many types of SPD circuit combination structures. The SPD circuit of the new power converter is mainly composed of varistors and temperature fuses. The varistors effectively absorb pulse energy, while the temperature fuses monitor and indicate the SPD circuit. As household appliances receive and input more electronic information, new power converter products also have lightning and surge protection interfaces specifically for network signals or TV signals, which play a full-scale role in protecting household appliances.

Industrial-grade voltage-stabilized power supplies are used for precision electronic equipment, medical equipment, computer rooms, laboratories, product aging and testing; while new power converters as civilian-grade voltage-stabilized power supplies are used to protect household appliances such as home theaters, computer equipment, network equipment, and smart devices, preventing damage to household appliances caused by lightning pulses, etc., and ensuring the safety of household electricity use.
