Lecture 1 Basics of CMOS Linear Adjustment
The history of CMOS linear regulators is not long, and they developed with the growth of the portable electronic equipment industry.
As CMOS technology is applied to large-scale integrated circuits such as LSI and memory, they are becoming increasingly miniaturized. By applying miniaturization technology, CMOS linear regulators have achieved small size, low voltage drop, low current consumption, etc., and are widely used as power ICs for portable electronic devices.
●Difference from bipolar linear regulator
Generally, CMOS linear regulators consume less current than bipolar linear regulators. This is because bipolar processes are current-driven components while CMOS processes are voltage-driven components. (Figure 1)
