Steps of time domain synthesis system for switching power supply

The steps to comprehensively determine the controller (or compensation network) parameters of the automatic regulation system using the time domain method are as follows:

(1) After the initial design of the switching power supply is completed, add a step load or a step input voltage;

(2) Measure the response of the switching power supply sample to a step load or step input;

(3) If you are not satisfied with the transient response, or the transient response does not meet the specified requirements, modify the controller (compensation network) parameters and repeat the above steps until you are satisfied.

From the above steps, we can see that the time domain synthesis method is a test method (or trial method), which is not very convenient for engineering design. Therefore, the small signal analysis and synthesis of switching power supplies traditionally use the frequency domain method.
