To test the quality of a DC/DC power module, you can use a multimeter with the resistance range Rx100 to measure the resistance of the input and output terminals of the power module. The following uses SR5S12/100 as an example, and uses the data measured by the MF47 multimeter (Rx100 range) to illustrate the measurement method:
Connect the red test lead to the input terminal +, and the black test lead to the input terminal -: the needle swings to the right and returns to the 5OkΩ resistance position; connect the red test lead to the input terminal -, and the black test lead to the input terminal +: the resistance is about 6KΩ.
Connect the red test pen to the output terminal +, and the black test pen to the output terminal -: the resistance value is about 1.4kΩ; connect the red test pen to the output terminal -, and the black test pen to the output terminal +: the resistance value is about 6kΩ.
This method of using the resistance range to test the quality of DC/DC power modules will produce different resistance values for different modules, different multimeters, and different ranges. Therefore, this method can only be used to measure the same product with the same multimeter to determine the quality of the power module.
A more reliable method is to build a circuit according to Figure 1, add the specified input voltage to the input end of the DC/DC module, and then use a multimeter to measure the output voltage of the power module to see if it is the specified voltage value, and then add a load resistor to the output end of the module according to the output current value of the module (the resistance value can be determined by Ohm's law R= U/I). If the rated output voltage of the power module is 12V and the output current is 100mA, a 120Ω load resistor can be added. After adding the load resistor, use a multimeter to measure the voltage at the output end of the power module. If it is still the rated output voltage value of the module, it means that this DC/DC power module is good. This measurement method is accurate and applicable to the measurement of various power modules.
