Overview of National Semiconductor's SIMPLE SWITCHER® Easy Power Modules and thermal performance comparison with competitor products. The easy-to-use SIMPLE SWITCHER Easy Power Modules feature innovative packaging and provide the best EMI and thermal performance in their class. The modules provide high efficiency over a wide range of input voltage and load current, and are pin-compatible with modules of different load currents. The LMZ series of power modules integrates a shielded inductor with a synchronous DC-DC buck topology into a simple package, allowing the power module to have both the high efficiency of a synchronous switching regulator and the simplicity of a linear regulator, thereby eliminating the use of an external inductor and overcoming layout placement issues in typical switching regulator designs. LMZ power module features: * Integrated shielded inductor. * Supports standard input rails of 3.3V, 5V, 12V and 24V. * Output voltage as low as 0.8V. * Load current up to 5A. * Enable, external software startup and sequence tracking functions. * Best thermal performance in its class. * Low output voltage ripple. * Pin-to-pin compatibility for different load currents. * Compact package with a single copper foil bottom. * Meets EN55022 (CISPR22) Class B radiated MI standard. * Meets EN61000-4-3 industrial radiation protection standard
