Liang Jianrong, engineer manager of Westpac Electronic Technology Co., Ltd., said that in the European and American markets, there are already mature central monitoring lighting systems, while the Chinese lighting market is not mature and is limited to simple operating procedures such as turning on and off, so there is great room for development.

As a major feature of smart lighting, wireless control has actually been applied to lighting control as early as 2005, but due to various technical bottlenecks and cost restrictions, it has not become the mainstream of the market until now. The biggest challenge of wireless control is how to ensure the stability and accuracy of wireless transmission and reception, as well as the problem of automatic connection. Compared with the wired power line carrier ( PLC ) transmission method, wireless transmission needs to constantly face interference from various environmental factors.

The mainstream wireless transmission standards in the market include Zigbee, Bluetooth and WiFi . Liang Jianrong said that Bluetooth has a short transmission distance and few transmission channels; WiFi consumes a lot of power and has a high equipment cost; therefore, for household smart lighting, Zigbee has more advantages in both technology and cost.

Weibo Technology's LED wireless lighting solution uses the currently popular Zigbee standard and cooperates with TI to develop a control network platform. Liang Jianrong introduced that after a research and development team of more than ten people in Australia for two years, Weibo Technology has launched a variety of LED lighting solutions, successfully overcoming the stability and accuracy problems of wireless transmission and reception, and can provide Chinese manufacturers with technical services from research and development to direct production.

For Chinese manufacturers, due to the high threshold of wireless technology, ordinary production engineers also face many difficulties in debugging and application. In this regard, Liang Jianrong said that Weibo Technology's LED wireless lighting solution can provide production testing and other services, and specially launched a platform called "PSWnetwork" for ordinary engineers to use to solve various technical problems at any time.

When will LED lighting become popular?

Due to the closure of nuclear power plants and power shortages caused by the earthquake , Japan unexpectedly became the first market in the world to popularize LED home lighting. However, due to major reasons such as cost, when LED lighting can be popularized on a large scale in Japan has become a big mystery with many different opinions.

Liang Jianrong made a detailed analysis. As the price of LED lamps continues to drop every quarter, if the current average rate of decline is used, in about 2-3 years, when the cost reaches 0.7-1 times the price of ordinary lamps, LED lamps will be fully popularized in people's homes.

Company Profile
