NXP's SSL2103 is a dimmable Greenchip controller for LED lighting, suitable for flyback and buck configuration applications. The device supports most dimming solutions, has the best efficiency, neutral dimming curve can be logarithmically corrected to 1%, over-temperature protection (OTP), winding short circuit protection (SWP) and over-current protection (OCP). SSL2103: Dimmable Greenchip controller for LED lighting

The SSL2103 is a Switched Mode Power Supply (SMPS) controller IC that operates in combination with a phase cut dimmer directly from the rectified mains. It is designed to drive LED devices. The device includes a circuit to allow direct start-up from the rectified mains voltage.

For dimmer applications, an integrated dedicated circuitry optimizes the dimming curve.

• SSL2101: fully integrated LED driver for lamps up to 10 W

• SSL2102: fully integrated LED driver for lamps up to 25 W

• SSL2103: gives the application designer flexibility to:

Use an external power switch to allow the IC to provide any power

– Use an external bleeder transistors to provide extended dimmer interoperability

user manual describes a demonstration (demo) board for evaluating an AC mains LED driver with a dimmer for 14 W, A55 LEDs using the SSL2103. It describes key features and connections to aid the design of LED drivers for typical applications.

The demo board operates from an AC mains voltage of 230 V (AC) at 50 Hz. The resulting design is a trade-off between high-power factor, efficiency and dimmer compatibility. Demo board specification.
