Fiber optic lighting technology

Fiber optic lighting has been widely used in industry, scientific research, medicine and landscape lighting because of its flexible light transmission, safety and reliability.

Fiber optic lighting is not like incandescent lamps and gas lamps that can work as soon as they are powered on. Instead, it is a system consisting of a light source, a reflector, a color filter, and an optical fiber. The light from the light source passes through the reflector to form a beam of parallel light, which passes through the color filter and becomes a colored beam. After the beam enters the optical fiber, it is sent to the required place along the optical fiber path.

Optical fiber is the main device material here. Light beams can only be transmitted or emitted to a specific place through optical fiber. Optical fiber is divided into two types: end-emitting and body-emitting. End-emitting means that the light beam is transmitted to the end point and then illuminated by the taillight, while body-emitting is itself a light-emitting body, forming a flexible light-emitting body.

What are the characteristics of fiber optic lighting?

Fiber optic lighting uses optical fiber as a medium for lighting and transmission, and has the following characteristics:

1. Changing the characteristic of light is rectilinear propagation. By utilizing the flexibility of optical fiber, the optical path can be easily changed to meet the needs of specific occasions.

2. Using multiple optical fibers, you can actually observe multiple points of light emission and illumination from a single light source.

3. Separation of light and electricity, safer. Traditional lamps are generally electroluminescent, and the lamps are directly connected to the power supply, which is dangerous. Fiber optic lighting can completely achieve photoelectric separation.

4. The light point or light source is miniaturized. This feature can be used to easily emit light inside small objects or glassware to create special lighting effects.

5. Controlling the refractive index of the optical fiber can easily filter out the ultraviolet and infrared rays of the light source, avoiding adverse effects such as heat and fading in cultural relics, textiles or other fields.

Because of the above characteristics, fiber optic lighting has been widely used in recent years, mainly in various landscape lighting, decorative lighting in entertainment venues, lighting for advertisements and various signs, lighting for various special occasions, etc.

I believe that as the scope of application expands and product prices drop, it will be widely used in our home decorative lighting, toy lighting, and daily necessities.
