Most LED lighting drivers on the market use a switch constant current drive mode, which generally has an efficiency of 95%, can provide a current of more than 500mA, and drive multiple LED devices to emit light. However, a switch driver requires at least 4 peripheral devices to cooperate, the PCB needs to be rigorously designed, EMI issues need to be taken seriously, and the price is usually high. Shenzhen Changyuntong Integrated Circuit Design Co., Ltd. proposed a distributed constant current drive architecture to address the above issues, and believes that this architecture will be the mainstream of the future market.

The distributed constant current architecture is to configure low-voltage linear constant current devices on each LED device branch. The constant current drive is completed on each LED string branch. The power supply can use a constant voltage switching power supply that meets the voltage requirements. The linear constant current method is simple in structure and high in efficiency. 48V can reach 99%, and the constant current accuracy is within ±3%. No peripheral devices are required, and there is no EMI problem. The price is cheap, about 1 yuan.

Changyuntong has applied this innovative LED driver architecture to the fields of LED lighting and LED billboards, and developed LED surface light source modules and LED billboard drivers. Regarding the applications in these two fields, Electronic Components Technology Network interviewed Changyuntong President Gu Daoxiong and Vice President Li Shaoliang respectively.
