LED lighting sources can be widely used in common workplaces, but their high price greatly limits their use. However, within ten years, LED light sources will inevitably replace most of the current light sources in workplaces. The following lists the commonly used light sources in workplaces and some of the current LED lighting that can be replaced.

Lighting sources generally include incandescent lamps, halogen lamps, fluorescent lamps, fluorescent high-pressure mercury lamps, long-arc xenon lamps, high-pressure sodium lamps, metal halide lamps, and LED lighting lamps. According to lighting requirements and the characteristics of the place of use, they can generally be selected according to the following regulations: in places where lighting switches frequently or the visual effect is affected by the stroboscopic effect and electromagnetic interference needs to be prevented, incandescent lamps or halogen lamps should be used; in places where color recognition is required, daylight-colored LED lighting lamps, fluorescent lamps, incandescent lamps, and halogen lamps should be used; in places with large vibrations, fluorescent high-pressure mercury lamps or high-pressure sodium lamps should be used; in places where large-area lighting requires high hanging conditions, long-arc xenon lamps or metal halide lamps or LED floodlights should be used; in the same place, when the light color of one light source cannot meet the production requirements, two or more mixed light sources can be used.

Lighting methods can be divided into general lighting, local lighting and mixed lighting. Mixed lighting is suitable for places with high visual work requirements. When it is not suitable to install local lighting or it is unnecessary to use mixed lighting due to production technical conditions, general lighting can be installed separately. The workplace should not be equipped with only local lighting. Lighting can be divided into normal lighting, emergency lighting, duty lighting, warning lighting and obstacle lighting according to its purpose. Emergency lighting should be installed in places and passages where normal lighting is extinguished due to a fault, which will cause serious accidents such as explosions, fires and personal injuries or are prone to danger. Emergency lighting must use a light source that can be ignited instantly and reliably, generally using incandescent lamps or halogen tungsten lamps.

In order to limit the effect of direct glare, the minimum hanging height of general indoor lighting fixtures from the ground depends on the type of light source, the type of lighting fixture and the power of the bulb, and the minimum height should be more than 2 meters. Local lighting fixtures should have reflective covers made of opaque materials or diffuse reflective materials. When the position of the lighting fixture is higher than the worker's eye level, its protection angle should not be less than 30 degrees; if it is lower than the worker's eye level, it should not be less than 10 degrees. When the surface of the work surface or the surface of the identification object exhibits mirror reflection, measures should be taken to prevent the reflected chord light from reaching the worker's eyes, such as using diffuse lighting fixtures or lighting fixtures with frosted bulbs. The illumination uniformity of general lighting in the production workshop (the ratio of the minimum illumination on a given work surface to the average illumination) should not be less than 0.7.

Different lamps and accessories should be selected according to the environmental conditions of production workshops and workplaces. In indoor and outdoor places that are particularly humid, with a lot of dust, corrosive gases and steam, the lamp switches, sockets, dry-type transformers, distribution boxes and other accessories should be installed in the adjacent normal environment. If they must be installed in the above places, waterproof, enclosed or anti-corrosion electrical appliances should be used or other measures should be taken.
