1. CREE: A well-known LED chip manufacturer, CREE Corporation of the United States, whose products are based on silicon carbide (SiC), gallium nitride (GaN), silicon (Si) and related compounds, including blue, green, ultraviolet light-emitting diodes (LEDs), near-ultraviolet lasers, radio frequency (RF) and microwave devices, power switching devices and silicon carbide (SiC) epitaxial wafers suitable for production and scientific research.
2. OSRAM: It is the world's second largest optoelectronic semiconductor manufacturer, with products including lighting, sensors, and image processors. The company is headquartered in Germany, with R&D and manufacturing bases in Malaysia, with about 3,400 employees and sales of 4.59 billion euros in 2004.
OSRAM's most famous product is LED, which is only a few millimeters long, has a variety of colors, low power consumption and long life.
3. NICHIA: Nichia Chemical, a well-known LED chip manufacturer, a Japanese company founded in 1956, developed the world's first blue LED (1993), the world's first pure green LED (1995), and has subsidiaries around the world.
4. Toyoda Gosei: Toyoda Gosei, headquartered in Aichi, Japan, produces automotive parts and LEDs, with LEDs accounting for about 10% of its revenue. The white light LEDs jointly developed by Toyoda Gosei and Toshiba use a combination of ultraviolet LEDs and phosphors, which is different from the general combination of blue LEDs and phosphors.
5. Agilent,
as the world's leading LED supplier, provides efficient and reliable light sources for a wide range of products, including automobiles, electronic information boards and traffic lights, industrial equipment, cellular phones and consumer products. The high reliability of these components usually ensures that the light source does not need to be replaced during the service life of the equipment. Agilent's low-cost dot matrix LED displays, a wide variety of seven-segment displays and Agilent LED light bar series products are available in a variety of packages and colors.
6. TOSHIBA Toshiba
Semiconductor is a major supplier of automotive LEDs, especially instrument panel backlights, car radios, navigation systems, climate control units, etc. The technology used is InGaAlP, with wavelengths ranging from 560nm (pure green) to 630nm (red). Recently, Toshiba has developed a new technology, UV+phosphor (ultraviolet + fluorescence), where the LED chip can emit ultraviolet light, which can excite the phosphor and then emit various lights, such as white light, pink, cyan, etc.
7. LUMILEDS
Lumileds Lighting is a leading manufacturer of high-power LEDs and solid-state lighting in the world. Its products are widely used in lighting, television, traffic signals and general lighting. Luxeon Power Light Sources is its patented product, which combines the small size and long life of traditional lamps and LEDs. It also provides various LED chips and LED packages, including red, green, blue, amber, white and other LEDs.
Lumileds Lighting is headquartered in the United States, with factories in the Netherlands, Japan and Malaysia. It was jointly established by Agilent and Philips in 1999, and Philips fully acquired the company in 2005.
8. SSC
Seoul Semiconductor is the largest manufacturer of LED environmentally friendly lighting technology in South Korea and one of the eight largest manufacturers in the world (Source: Strategies Unlimited--LED market research company).
Seoul Semiconductor's main business is the production of a full range of LED assembly and customized module products, including AC-driven semiconductor light source products such as Acriche, side-light LED, top-light LED, slice LED, plug-in LED and Piranha (super-strong light) LED, etc. The products have been widely used in general lighting, display lighting, mobile phone backlight, TV, laptop, automotive lighting, household goods and traffic signal.
