It is common knowledge that you cannot make phone calls or surf the Internet while on an airplane, but one day in the future, you will only need an LED light above your seat to browse the web and download videos with your laptop, and the safety of the airplane will not be affected at all. The Semiconductor Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences has made a major breakthrough in the " Semiconductor Lighting Information Network" based on the principle of LED light wireless communication .
In the Semiconductor Lighting and Information Demonstration Hall of the Institute of Semiconductors of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, a laptop computer has neither a network cable connection nor a wireless network card, but the computer screen is playing network videos smoothly; some electrical appliances such as televisions, home theaters, microwave ovens, spherical cameras, electric curtains, etc., can be operated by the mobile phone in the hand, and the TV will start playing programs, the microwave oven will light up, and even the camera can adjust the focus, zoom in and out, and other very "small" actions can be achieved. Chen Xiongbin, an associate researcher at the Institute of Semiconductors of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, said that the secret to achieving this "miracle" lies in the LED lighting lamps embedded in the ceiling .
It turns out that in addition to lighting, LED lights can also be used for communication and control. The principle is to control LED lights through signal pulses, making the LED lights flash on and off at an extremely fast frequency to achieve signal transmission. This high-frequency flicker is imperceptible to the human eye, so LED lights can both illuminate and send signals.

to transmit the received satellite signal to the LED reading light on the passenger seat. In this way, an ordinary light becomes a network access point. The laptop placed under it can access the Internet, and passengers can surf the Internet to kill time on the journey. People cannot make phone calls or surf the Internet on airplanes because they are worried that electromagnetic radiation will affect the safety of the airplane. LED light wireless communication technology can completely eliminate this concern because it does not emit electromagnetic waves and is a very safe wireless communication system.
