Video Server Purchase Tips
1. Video server image quality
This is the basic premise of remote video monitoring and the basic element to ensure that the video server can realize remote video monitoring and unattended operation. If the monitoring screen cannot be seen clearly, it is meaningless. At present, there are generally two video server options on the market, CIF and D1, with resolutions of 352*288 and 704*576 respectively. Without considering other factors, of course, the D1 video server is equivalent to DVD quality and is the most ideal. But if the bandwidth issue is considered, the CIF video server is equivalent to VCD quality and can also meet the needs of some ordinary occasions. It should be noted that you must see it with your own eyes through the network. For the same D1, some video server products may have worse effects than good CIF video server products, so you cannot use parameters as a standard, you must see it with your own eyes.
2. Bandwidth requirements of video servers
This is one of the indicators of the video server. Under the same picture quality, the lower the occupied bandwidth, the higher the compression rate of the video server. When used on a large scale, the high compression rate can greatly reduce your network usage costs. Therefore, when choosing such a product, the equipment cost will be relatively high, but the subsequent overall cost will be much lower.
3. Transmission delay of video server
This is also an important indicator of video server products. Because the timeliness of the on-site signal must be guaranteed, the video server product is generally required to maintain a microsecond level when there is no bandwidth limit. That is to say, without the factor of bandwidth, the delay of the video server itself should be ignored. Therefore, it is best to provide sufficient bandwidth in the local area network to test the performance of the video server. At the same time, you must also consider how much bandwidth your video server requires in actual situations. Otherwise, using a high-end video server product will not be able to play its role, just like a racing car driving on a poor road cannot play its speed advantage, so it is meaningless.

Key points for purchasing video servers
1. Whether the product has relevant qualifications. Although product qualifications do not fully represent the quality and performance of the product, they are the basic conditions for the acceptance of many system integration projects, and are also the basic conditions for whether the product is qualified.
2. The actual bandwidth required to transmit standard real-time moving images. This is one of the important indicators to measure the overall performance of network video servers. High bandwidth means an increase in network usage fees. For end users, this will shake their determination to adopt digital monitoring mode. After all, economic efficiency is an issue that any enterprise unit has to consider.
3. Delay of remote video transmission. Although transmission delay is inevitable for any network video server, the delay values of different network video servers are different. The delay value will directly affect the effect of digital monitoring. Imagine that when the monitoring personnel in the monitoring center control the front-end camera pan/tilt with the mouse , they click the mouse five times in five seconds , and only see the pan/tilt control effect after the first click on the monitor after the tenth second, what will happen?
4. IE monitoring function. Conventional monitoring management software is cumbersome and inconvenient to operate in order to achieve functional integrity, and even requires special training and learning to master it. The management software provides a simple WEB version of monitoring management software suitable for leaders or non-professional monitoring managers . It can provide single-screen image monitoring, recording, control and other functions in the form of IE web pages. Users do not need to install professional software, and do not need to remember and enter the complex IP addresses of different network video servers when selecting monitoring images. They only need to access the system's WEB server to download the pre-set monitoring point name and other configuration information controls, and click the mouse to select the relevant image name to realize the monitoring function.
5. Image compression algorithm standards. The current mainstream network video server compression algorithm standards are nothing more than MJPEG, MPEG-1, and MPEG-4.
6. The number of video channels that the monitoring center can monitor and record simultaneously. Since network video monitoring servers are mostly used for remote, real-time, and centralized monitoring of multiple dispersed sites, the number of video channels that the monitoring center can monitor and record simultaneously is an important indicator for measuring the effectiveness of remote centralized monitoring.
In theory, it is possible to implement remote real-time monitoring and recording of unlimited monitoring sites at the same time. However, in practical applications, it is limited by the actual network bandwidth of the monitoring center. For example, if the center network bandwidth is 10M, assuming that each video channel occupies 250K, a maximum of 40 videos can be recorded, unless the bandwidth of each video channel is reduced or the network bandwidth is increased.
7. Warranty issues. Warranty issues are one of the most important issues for contractors. Since contractors directly face end users, unsatisfactory after-sales warranty services will directly affect the reputation of contractors.
