With the development of digitalization and networking, traditional access control systems are difficult to meet the requirements of safe, reliable and networked control due to limitations in identification methods, speed and performance. As identification technology continues to mature, identity recognition systems based on human physiological characteristics are gradually being adopted. At present, from a practical point of view, fingerprint recognition technology is safer and more convenient than other biometric technologies, because human fingerprints are unique, immutable and close to the body. Traditional access control controllers are often developed using single-chip microcomputers, and use serial communication interfaces to transmit data to remote host computers. Multiple access control controllers generally form RS485 networks, with dedicated communication lines and are not easy to implement network control and remote control. Access control systems based on TCP/IP network communication transmit data through local area networks, which makes it easy to implement remote control and distributed management. This paper designs an intelligent network access control controller based on fingerprint recognition and Ethernet. On ARM9 and Linux operating systems, FPS200 fingerprint sensors are used to collect fingerprint images and USB cameras to collect video images, and Ethernet controller chip AX88796 is used to implement a network access control system based on TCP/IP protocol. The paper first analyzes the research background, significance and development status of the access control system at home and abroad, then introduces the overall structure of the fingerprint recognition network access control system, and explains the hardware resources of each important functional module of the system. According to the hardware resources of the system, an embedded Linux software platform is built, and the drivers of related modules are transplanted. The paper studies the fingerprint recognition algorithm, including fingerprint image preprocessing and fingerprint image feature extraction and matching, focusing on the analysis of fingerprint image segmentation method, and using the combination of gray gradient and gray variance to set a suitable local threshold to segment the fingerprint. Then, the overall design of the access control system software is explained, and Video4Linux image acquisition, fingerprint image acquisition, GoAhead Web Server application, and the system uses TCP/IP to achieve network communication between the system access control controller and the host PC. The system test part introduces the test environment, test methods and test content. The test results show that the fingerprint recognition network access control system designed in this project has achieved good results in stability, reliability and real-time performance. At the end of the paper, some problems encountered in the work are proposed, and some new research trends in recent years are briefly summarized and prospected, pointing out the future research direction of fingerprint recognition network access control system.
