On June 22, the reporter learned from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology that the ministry will carry out a concentrated rectification of camera network security across the country from June to August, with a focus on increasing the intensity of monitoring and handling of security threats to networked cameras, and conducting special inspections on the network and data security of video surveillance cloud platforms.
The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said that in recent years, with the rapid development and increasing popularity of information networks, cameras have been widely used in people's daily work and life. Driven by economic interests, activities that exploit security vulnerabilities in cameras to infringe on citizens' personal privacy are growing rapidly, forming an underground industrial chain, and seriously endangering network security.
Recently, the Central Cyberspace Affairs Commission, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Public Security, and the State Administration for Market Regulation jointly issued the "Announcement on the Centralized Governance of Black Industries Such as Camera Voyeurism". The Cybersecurity Administration of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will organize local communications administration bureaus, basic telecommunications companies, professional institutions, video surveillance cloud platforms, camera manufacturers, etc. to carry out a nationwide centralized rectification of camera network security from June to August, focusing on increasing the intensity of monitoring and handling security threats to networked cameras, conducting special inspections on the network and data security of video surveillance cloud platforms, and standardizing the management of product security vulnerabilities of camera manufacturers, so as to eliminate hidden dangers in camera network security, ensure network security, and safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of citizens in cyberspace.
