Wearable devices have not had a relatively perfect password unlocking solution until now, which makes it impossible for users to ensure that others can access their private files through them. However, researchers have recently proposed a novel solution: unlocking the device through the unique sound of the wearer's skull.

Bone conduction unlocking technology does not mean that your brain needs to emit a subtle buzzing sound all the time. Instead, it uses a wearable device similar to Google Glass or VR glasses, and uses an integrated bone conduction speaker to transmit ultrasonic signals to the wearer's skull. The microphone on the device records the sound frequency of the skull's vibration feedback as the only information to verify the user's identity.

The biometric verification technology, called "SkullConduct," was developed by researchers from the University of Stuttgart, Saarland University and the Max Planck Institute for Informatics, based in Germany. They completed a controlled experiment in which 10 participants used the technology to unlock and close their devices at will, and the device was able to accurately identify the participants 97% of the time.

Although the success rate is not 100%, since the technology is still in the research stage, it has shown us incredible results. Imagine that one day in the future, you can unlock your phone and verify your identity information by simply holding it close to your head like making a call. This will probably be more convenient than putting your finger on the fingerprint sensor every time.
