1. First, select the corresponding measurement position and appropriate range according to the measured quantity and its estimated size.
2. When the size of the object to be measured cannot be estimated, be sure to use the high range gear first, use the meter pen to measure once, measure its size range, and then switch to the appropriate gear.
3. When the object to be measured is resistance, no matter which range of the resistance block is used for measurement, it is necessary to adjust the potentiometer before measurement. The method is to short-circuit the two carbon pencils and adjust the zeroing potentiometer so that the pointer (pointer multimeter) points to the zero point of the resistance scale value or the indication (digital multimeter) is exactly zero. If this cannot be achieved by adjusting the zeroing potentiometer, it means that the battery should be replaced.
4. The maximum value of each range of the resistance block is "infinite", which obviously cannot be used to represent the range. Usually, the median resistance of each range of the resistance block is used to reflect their range. The indication of each resistance block position is the median resistance of the position (the so-called median resistance refers to the resistance value indicated when the pointer points to the midpoint of the scale during measurement). The measured value is more accurate when the measured resistance value is near the median resistance.
5. When using a voltage block to detect the voltage between two points in a circuit, special attention should be paid to the relative relationship between the internal resistance of the block used and the resistance between the two points being measured. The measurement result is credible only when the internal resistance of the block is much greater than the resistance between the two points being measured.
6. After using the pointer multimeter, it should be placed in the high voltage position of AC/DC voltage; after using the digital multimeter, the switch should be turned off.
