The biggest advantage of the clamp ammeter is that it can measure current without power failure. Clamp ammeters are mainly divided into two categories: pointer type and digital type. Clamp ammeters can be divided into transformer type clamp ammeters specifically for AC and electromagnetic system clamp ammeters for AC and DC according to their functions and uses.
Usually, when measuring current, the circuit to be measured needs to be disconnected before the primary winding of the ammeter or current transformer can be connected to the circuit to be measured. However, when using a clamp ammeter, the current to be measured can be measured without disconnecting the circuit to be measured. Although the accuracy level of the clamp ammeter is not high, usually level 2.5 or level 5.0, it is widely used because of its convenience. The clamp ammeter is usually used to measure the load current with a voltage not exceeding 500V. Commonly used clamp ammeters are divided into two types according to their different structural methods: transformer type and electromagnetic type. Among them are the T301 clamp ammeter that only measures AC current, the T302 clamp ammeter that measures both AC current and AC voltage, and the MG series AC/DC dual-purpose clamp ammeter.
