Fiber optic tester is a physical performance test instrument used in the fields of physics, electronics and communication technology. Fluke fiber optic tester is also a member of the Versiv cabling certification product series, supporting fiber loss test, OTDR test and fiber end face inspection.

1. When testing the remote light source reference, no power measurement is detected

Fluke Fiber Certification Tester divides fiber testing into three types according to the application scenario: intelligent remote, loopback, and remote light source. Intelligent remote can realize dual-core, bidirectional, and dual-wavelength one-time testing. Loopback is to test the situation where both ends of the fiber are at one end, generally for rolled fiber. The remote light source is for a single-core link, the remote emits the light source, the main end receives, and the remote light source can only test the loss, not the length. As shown in the figure, the application scenario is a single-core link, and the remote light source test type is used, and it prompts that the power measurement is not detected. There are generally two possibilities for this situation. One is that the transmitting light source is not switched to the connected transmitting port, that is, the light source port does not emit the light source, and the power measurement cannot be detected. On the front of the instrument, press the black button to switch the light source, and then refer to it after switching the light source. The second is that the connected optical fiber is disconnected, reconnect or replace the optical fiber jumper. The first situation is more common for novice operation.

2. The measured power level is outside the expected setting range of the reference

Fluke Cable Certification Tester is a high-precision product, and its requirements for fiber optic testing are very strict. When we set the benchmark, if the light source port and connector are contaminated, it will have an adverse effect on the setting of the benchmark. When the above prompt appears, it is recommended to use a cleaning pen to clean the light source port and connector.

3. When referring to the benchmark, the prompt shows that the loss is too large and exceeds the recommended value

If the loss exceeds the recommended value when using the reference benchmark, it is mostly because the connector is contaminated. You can use a Fluke FI-7000 fiber optic microscope to check the connector. If there is any contamination, you can use the cleaning pen provided by Fluke to clean it.
