DEKRA Selects Keysight Technologies for Compliance Validation of 5G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Devices
Leading global test organization expands use of Keysight test platforms to address continued growth in 5G and IoT
Keysight Technologies Inc. (NYSE: KEYS) announced today that DEKRA, a world-renowned test organization, has selected Keysight’s 5G and Internet of Things (IoT) test solutions to further expand its compliance testing business for 5G NR, Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5 devices. Keysight provides advanced design and verification solutions designed to accelerate innovation and create a secure and connected world.
Regulatory agencies in various countries and regions require companies to conduct radio frequency (RF) regulatory testing on their cellular device products to ensure that the RF power of these products does not exceed the specified standards to ensure the safety of end users. These agencies also set transmission power standards for unlicensed non-cellular wireless devices such as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth wireless devices. Therefore, DEKRA decided to expand the use of Keysight's test solutions to better support the rapid growth of the global 5G and IoT compliance testing market.
"With more than 600 5G devices launched worldwide, we are pleased to continue supporting DEKRA," said Muthu Kumaran, senior director of Keysight's wireless test group. "With Keysight's 5G RF device compliance test solutions, DEKRA has successfully launched nearly two dozen commercial 5G devices in different form factors, including wireless devices for the automotive industry."
DEKRA selected Keysight's RF/RRM DVT and Conformance Test Toolset, RF Automation Toolset and Wireless IoT Regulatory Test Solutions to meet the mandatory requirements of regulators, including the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in the United States, ETSI for the European Union's CE Radio Equipment Directive (RED), and the Telecommunications Engineering Center (TELEC) in Japan. Most of DEKRA's compliance testing focuses on the sub-7 GHz (FR 1) spectrum, which is supported by nearly 90% of commercial 5G devices.
"By further expanding the use of Keysight's 5G and IoT device test solutions at DEKRA, we are able to cost-effectively offer a wide range of 5G device conformance validation and compliance testing services," said Jianbo Feng, general manager of DEKRA Suzhou Laboratory. "Keysight's 5G, IoT and C-V2X test solutions further strengthen our capabilities to fully certify products and systems that facilitate safe interactions between humans and technology, including vehicles."
Keysight's 5G device test solution provides a full set of test cases covering FR1 and FR2 (mmWave) spectrum using a common hardware and software platform. DEKRA uses this integrated solution to meet the test requirements of 5G NR standalone (SA) and non-standalone (NSA) modes, while also meeting the requirements of 4G LTE. Keysight also provides test organizations and IoT vendors with a richer range of IoT solutions that fully cover connectivity, continuity, compliance, coexistence, and network security requirements.
