If the resistance measurement accuracy is not high, we can use the ohm range of the multimeter to measure. Specific steps for measuring resistance:
1. Zero adjustment of the resistance block of the multimeter
Set the selector switch to RX100 or RXlk, short-circuit the two test leads, and adjust the ohm range zero position adjustment knob so that the meter needle points to the zero position on the right end of the resistance scale line.
2. Measure the resistance value
In order to improve the accuracy of resistance measurement, the range should be selected according to the nominal value of the resistance being measured. When measuring, the pointer indication value should fall as much as possible within the range of 20% to 80% of the full scale.
Use the multimeter probe to touch the two pins of the resistor to be measured. Correctly read the resistance reading indicated by the ohmmeter, and then multiply it by the magnification (RX100 block should be multiplied by 100, KXlk block should be multiplied by 1000, ...) to get the resistance value of the resistor to be measured.
3. Things to pay attention to when measuring
During the test, be careful not to touch the test lead and the conductive parts of the resistor to prevent the human body resistance from affecting the accuracy of the measurement. If the resistor is on the circuit board, at least one end of the resistor to be measured must be soldered off from the circuit to avoid affecting the measurement. The resistance measurement diagram is shown in the figure.
The above method is a simple introduction to using a multimeter to detect resistance. Once you have mastered this method, you don’t have to worry about some small appliances at home breaking down. Even a novice may be able to tell what’s wrong with the appliance. This method is very easy to master for beginners.
