How to use a multimeter to measure the size of inductance and resistance?

The pointer multimeter consists of a meter head, measuring circuit components and a conversion switch. It has two appearances: portable and pocket. The dial, zero adjustment knob, test jack, etc. are installed on the panel. The functions of various multimeters are slightly different, but there are four basic functions: one is to test DC current, two is to test DC voltage, three is to test AC voltage, and four is to test AC and DC resistance. Some multimeters can measure audio levels, AC current, capacitance, inductance and special values of transistors, etc. Due to the differences in these functions, the appearance layout of the multimeter is also different!

1. When measuring resistance with a multimeter, you should first short-circuit the test leads, turn the zeroing potentiometer to zero, and make the pointer at the ohm zero position. If the pointer still cannot reach 0, this phenomenon is usually caused by insufficient battery voltage in the meter. You should replace the battery with a new one to measure accurately. And you need to readjust the zeroing potentiometer to zero after each gear change. When selecting the ohm gear, try to choose a position where the resistance value to be measured is close to the resistance reading in the center of the dial to improve the accuracy of the test results; if the resistor is on the circuit board, one of the legs should be soldered open before testing, otherwise the resistor has other shunt devices and the reading is inaccurate! When measuring resistance, do not touch the test leads and the pins of the resistor with your fingers to prevent the shunt of human body resistance and increase errors.

2. Measure inductance: Set the multimeter to R×1, connect the red and black test leads to any lead-out terminal of the inductor, and the pointer should swing to the right. According to the measured resistance value, it can be identified in the following three situations:
A? The resistance value of the inductor being measured is zero, and there is a short-circuit fault inside it. B? The DC resistance value of the inductor being measured is directly related to the diameter of the enameled wire used to wind the inductor coil and the number of windings. As long as the resistance value can be measured, it can be considered that the inductor being measured is normal.
