There are big differences between carbon monoxide detectors and combustible gas detectors, and many dealers and users often confuse the two. In fact, the two are very different. If you are not careful, you will mistakenly install a combustible gas detector where a carbon monoxide detector is needed, or install a carbon monoxide detector where a combustible gas detector should be installed, which will cause great losses to people's lives and property.

Carbon Monoxide Gas Detector

Combustible gas detector

The carbon monoxide detector is used to detect carbon monoxide gas (CO). It cannot be used to detect alkane gases such as methane (CH4).

The combustible gas detectors on the market can usually be used to detect natural gas, liquefied petroleum gas or coal-to-gas, etc. Urban pipeline gas is usually one of these three gases. The main components of these gases are alkane gases such as methane (C4H4), and their main characteristic is a pungent smell. When the concentration of these combustible gases in the air exceeds a certain standard, it will cause an explosion. The combustible gas detector detects this explosive alkane gas and cannot be used to detect carbon monoxide gas.

Urban pipeline coal gas is a special gas, which contains both CO and alkane gases. Therefore, if you only want to detect whether there is a leak in the pipeline gas, you can use either a carbon monoxide detector or a combustible gas detector. However, if you want to detect whether excessive carbon monoxide gas is produced when pipeline natural gas, liquefied petroleum gas or coal-based gas is burned, you need to use a carbon monoxide detector. In addition, when using a coal stove for heating, burning coal, etc., it produces carbon monoxide gas (CO), not methane (CH4) and other alkane gases. Therefore, a carbon monoxide detector should be used instead of a combustible gas detector. If you use a coal stove for heating and burn coal, it is useless to install a combustible gas detector. If a person is poisoned, the combustible gas detector will not sound. This is quite dangerous.

In short, if you want to detect toxic gases and are concerned about whether you will be poisoned, then you must choose Hunan Guorui's handheld or fixed carbon monoxide detector. If you want to detect explosive gases and are concerned about whether there is a leak in the pipeline, you can generally use Hunan Guorui's handheld or fixed combustible gas detector. Hunan Guorui uses the catalytic combustion detection principle to detect the concentration of various combustible gases. It has infrared remote control and sound and light alarms. It is widely used in petrochemicals, metallurgy, mining, fire protection, gas, electric power communications, urban water supply, sewage treatment, scientific research, education, and national defense.
