VXI (VME eXtension for Instrumentation) bus refers to the extension of VME (VersaModule Eurocard) bus for instruments. VXI instrument bus was launched in 1987. It is a bus specification jointly proposed by a consortium of five companies including Colorado Datasystem, Hewlett-Packard, RacaldanaInstruments, Tektronix and Wavetek, and was approved by IEEE as IEEE-1155 standard in 1992.

VXI bus is based on the widely used VME bus in computers. It combines the computer bus and the instrument bus together. It has the characteristics of PC structure and VME bus, and realizes the concept of computer-controlled modular instrument system. It is a typical modular instrument bus. VXI bus has been widely used in the instrument field since its appearance. The measurement system is built using YXJ bus technology. Compared with other types of measurement systems, it has the characteristics of complete functions, accurate testing, fast speed, strong anti-interference and high reliability.
