The above is a schematic diagram of the instrument that produces X-rays . In the red target (metal Rhodium, no corresponding Chinese characters can be found), driven by an ultra-high voltage electric field (50,000 volts), electrons (blue balls) violently collide with the red target, thereby stimulating strong X-electromagnetic radiation (i.e. X-rays). The target must be cooled with circulating water (W). In 1895, German physicist Rontgen discovered and studied this electromagnetic radiation phenomenon.
Entering this century, nanometers are a basic concept that modern civilized people must have. If you don't understand nanometers, you will be laughed at. We must remember a fact: the size of each hydrogen atom is about 0.023 nanometers. Although the human eye cannot see atoms, we must find a way to observe the atomic level. People have found that the wavelength of X-rays is very short, ranging from 0.01 nanometers to 10 nanometers. Therefore, X-rays can be used to "observe" (actually detect) the existence of "non-periodic crystals". "Curiosity" thought of this.
Curiosity is equipped with an advanced X-ray detector (CheMin), which can "observe" the "crystals" in Martian rocks and soil particles from different angles, and transmit them remotely back to Earth for scientists to "see enough". As for whether it is a "non-periodic crystal" (a living organism), Curiosity certainly does not know, and it depends on earth scientists to judge. Will scientists "cheat"? Generally speaking, there are differences between China and foreign countries. For example, the German scientist Roentgen would not cheat. In our country, I have heard of scientists who specialize in cheating.
In fact, X-rays are extremely penetrating. Under X-rays, people have no privacy. Recently, the United States has deployed X-band radar early warning systems in areas surrounding my country, specifically to be our enemy. Chinese people should learn "mathematics, physics, chemistry, heaven and earth" well, enhance their skills, and defend the motherland.
