WPG launches air quality monitoring solution based on MediaTek and BOSCH products
On August 3, 2023, WPG Holdings, a leading international semiconductor component distributor dedicated to the Asia-Pacific market, announced that its subsidiary Pinjia has launched an air quality monitoring solution based on MediaTek Genio 130A (MT7933) and Bosch BME688 products.

The air contains bacteria, organic compounds, volatile sulfur compounds and other substances. Once these substances exceed the standard, they will seriously affect people's health. Therefore, it is very important to monitor the air quality in daily work and life. Based on this background, WPG launched an air quality monitoring solution based on MediaTek Genio 130A (MT7933) chip and BOSCH BME688 sensor. The solution can provide accurate environmental data in real time, making air quality digital and visual.

MediaTek Genio 130A (MT7933) is a microcontroller from MediaTek equipped with an Arm Cortex-M33 core. It has an operating frequency of up to 300MHz and built-in 8Mb SRAM, which can provide efficient computing power. In terms of connectivity, the product supports wireless connection technologies such as WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2, and the new version of the SDK also supports Matter technology. After integration, the product can seamlessly connect to other devices in the smart home ecosystem across platforms, enhancing product value.
In addition, the HiFi4 DSP built into the Genio 130A (MT7933) greatly improves the efficiency and accuracy of voice recognition. It can not only cooperate with the Cybron voice recognition database to realize local voice assistant services, but also integrate the Amazon Alexa smart voice assistant with the WiFi function to provide cloud-based voice recognition services. Its voice assistant can also provide voice control functions for Matter.
BME688 is a gas sensor with artificial intelligence (AI) from BOSCH, which integrates high-precision gas, pressure, humidity and temperature sensing functions. In terms of packaging, BME688 adopts a rugged and compact 3.0mm×3.0mm×0.9mm package, which can be used in applications with requirements on size and power consumption. In terms of performance, the sensor can detect volatile organic compounds (VOCs), volatile sulfur compounds (VSCs) and other gases in the parts per billion (ppb) range, such as carbon monoxide and hydrogen.
