The sudden outbreak of COVID-19 has hit the world, and the electronic information industry has inevitably been hit hard. As the global epidemic spreads and the world economy is severely impacted, President Xi Jinping first proposed the road to recovery and growth at the "Belt and Road" International Cooperation High-level Video Conference on June 18, 2020. When the chapter of the post-epidemic era opens, another era full of business opportunities is coming.

The epidemic has accelerated China's semiconductor independence process

The sudden outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic has hit the world, and the semiconductor supply chain has inevitably been hit hard. As an important part of the global supply chain, how will the domestic semiconductor industry be affected? Wei Shaojun, director of the Institute of Microelectronics at Tsinghua University, said that since the domestic epidemic broke out around the Spring Festival holiday and the epidemic was well controlled, the impact on the semiconductor industry is generally controllable. He also judged that it is highly likely that the global semiconductor supply chain will be adjusted in the next few years, but it is impossible for the supply chain to be fully reorganized.

At the same time, we see that the impact of the epidemic abroad will not end in the short term. The impact of international logistics will indirectly lead to insufficient supply in China. When domestic production capacity has been restored, domestic semiconductor products may accelerate the replacement of foreign products. The growth rate of the semiconductor industry will slow down. Compared with the previous double-digit growth rate of the semiconductor industry each year, this year's industry growth is likely to remain in the single digit. Semiconductors are accelerating localization, and the recent return of SMIC to the Science and Technology Innovation Board is a representative event.

The epidemic has accelerated the implementation of 5G applications

The rise of 5G has brought not only changes in network transmission speed, but also driven the fields of medical care, education, and automobiles to continuously explore new application scenarios. In the application scenarios of 5G, "AR/VR, before, it was impossible to realize it because the network speed was not fast enough, but now the speed is enough, and the user experience has completely changed. With the development of 5G network, AR/VR can be used for remote learning in the context of education. On the one hand, it is suitable for isolation under the epidemic, and on the other hand, it also increases the interest of young people in learning."

The 2018 AR/VR White Paper released by the China Academy of New Agriculture shows that the AR market exceeds 60 billion, and is expected to exceed 160 billion by 2020. Based on such a large market prospect, electronic products such as electronic parts, capacitors and resistors, crystal oscillators, and ICs also have a broad application market.

New infrastructure ushers in new opportunities

Promoting "new infrastructure" has been a clear direction since 2019. The progress of "new infrastructure" was affected by the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic at the beginning of this year. With the resumption of work and production, accelerated progress has become inevitable. On February 14, the 12th meeting of the Central Committee for Comprehensively Deepening Reforms emphasized that infrastructure is an important support for economic and social development, and that it is necessary to build an intensive, efficient, economical, smart, green, safe and reliable modern infrastructure system. On March 4, the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee held a meeting and clearly emphasized the need to accelerate the construction of new infrastructure such as 5G networks and data centers.

Among the cities with a GDP of over one trillion yuan, Shenzhen, Chengdu, Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing, Qingdao, Changsha, Chongqing, Zhengzhou and other cities have released plans or lists of major projects for 2020.

"New infrastructure" has become the focus of project planning in major cities. New infrastructure projects such as intercity rail, high-speed rail, and 5G base stations have appeared in the major project lists of major cities. For example, the construction and renovation of the tower 5G base station in Shenzhen, the China Mobile 5G Industry Research Institute in Chengdu, and the ZTE 5G communication equipment in Nanjing. On March 4, Chengdu issued the "Opinions on Completing the 2020 Economic and Social Development Goals", which specifically proposed to accelerate the construction of projects such as the Chengdu-Dazhou-Wanzhou High-speed Railway, the Universiade venues, TOD, and Tianfu Jincheng; promote the construction of the Sichuan-Tibet Railway Technology Innovation Center, the Chengdu Supercomputing Center, and the Western Electron Microscope Center; deepen the commercial application of 5G, cultivate emerging industries such as smart medical care, smart education, digital cultural and creative industries, unmanned economy, and smart exhibitions, and use "new infrastructure" as an important means to achieve this year's economic and social development goals.

Chengdu and Shenzhen, two major economic cities, held two exhibitions to help the industry recover

Shenzhen is the most advanced city in China's electronic information industry, and Chengdu is a new first-tier city in electronic information. Both cities have been selected as the first batch of 5G pilot cities. China Electronics Exhibition launched the 2020 Exhibition Month, which will be linked to touring exhibitions in Shenzhen and Chengdu, and jointly set up joint exhibition areas for 5G and big data, integrated circuits, intelligent manufacturing, artificial intelligence, high-end components, etc., with the goal of promoting the upgrading of industrial foundations and the modernization of industrial chains through new infrastructure to help the industry recover.
