MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., May 28, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- CEVA, Inc. (NASDAQ: CEVA), the leading licensor of signal processing platforms and artificial intelligence processors for smarter, connected devices, and Rohde & Schwarz, a leading supplier of test and measurement equipment, today announced that CEVA has successfully completed protocol conformance testing of the CEVA-Dragonfly NB2 IP platform for narrowband IoT Release 14 as defined by the Global Certification Forum (GCF). This comprehensive testing was performed using the Rohde & Schwarz R&S®CMW500 wideband radio communication tester, a GCF-certified NB-IoT protocol conformance test platform.
"We are pleased to share CEVA's excellent progress with its NB-IoT solution," said Anton Messmer, Vice President of Mobile Radio Testers at Rohde & Schwarz. "Providing GCF-compliant IP is important to establishing a healthy narrowband IoT ecosystem. We look forward to seeing many new devices and customers enabled by this IP in the market as this exciting standard becomes mainstream around the world."
Ange Aznar, vice president and general manager of the Wireless IoT Business Unit at CEVA, said: "The GCF testing, along with ongoing network testing by various mobile network operators, is a critical achievement for us in ensuring that our customers who integrate the CEVA-Dragonfly NB2 IP solution into their SoCs receive a high-quality, compliant product. This move lowers the barrier for new chipset vendors to enter the cellular IoT market segment and is another important step in our mission to drive the growth of the IoT with NB-IoT. Rohde & Schwarzis is a well-respected leader in conformance testing of cellular technologies and the R&S®CMW500 is an essential component of our in-house test environment."
The CEVA-Dragonfly NB2 IP solution is a modular technology consisting of the CEVA-X1 IoT processor, integrated RF transceiver, baseband and protocol stack, providing a complete Release 14 Category-NB2 modem IP solution, greatly reducing time to market and lowering entry barriers. This is a fully software-configurable solution that can extend multi-satellite GNSS and sensor fusion capabilities. This IP includes a reference chip for a complete modem design, including an embedded CMOS RF transceiver with PMU and PA, an advanced digital front end, physical layer firmware and protocol stack (MAC, RLC, PDCP, RRC and NAS).
