The 2019 World Artificial Intelligence Conference opened today. Tencent CEO Ma Huateng delivered a speech at the opening ceremony: "Looking at the field of artificial intelligence this year, I feel that 'the heat has not diminished, and there are many highlights.'" Ma Huateng said that artificial intelligence is getting closer to human society, developing from specialists to generalists, and artificial intelligence is also transforming into autonomous intelligence. The self-learning ability of machine intelligence about the environment is also greatly enhanced.

Ma Huateng believes that "today no country can fully possess all the resources, technologies and capabilities required for the new round of global science and technology and industry. Industrial fragmentation and technological decoupling will harm the long-term interests of all mankind."

In addition, the most eye-catching is the "Double Horse" dialogue.

Under the watchful eyes of the crowd, Jack Ma, who appeared as co-chair of the United Nations High-Level Panel on Digital Cooperation, took the stage with Tesla co-founder and CEO Elon Musk for a 45-minute summit dialogue.

Musk: Machines are an extension of life

Shuangma first discussed artificial intelligence.

Jack Ma said: I am not a technology expert, I think more about life. The future of AI is difficult to predict. Historically, 99.99% of people’s predictions about the future were later proven to be wrong.

Jack Ma believes that people should have more confidence and AI is not a threat. I call those who worry about AI people who are trained in universities, while those of us who are trained in universities in society think AI is good.

Musk said: The biggest mistake I see AI researchers make is assuming that they are smart, which is not necessarily the case compared to AI. They think that machines are not smarter than humans, but in fact, machines are likely to be much smarter than humans. What should we do in the face of this situation? I don’t know, I’m not sure, I hope AI will be a good thing. There is an old saying, if you can’t beat them, team up with them. The company I developed, Neuralink, is like this, and its purpose is to let us join the AI team. Now we are connected to mobile phones and computers, and we have become people with machine characteristics. Machines in your life are equivalent to an extension of your life. If you leave your mobile phone, it’s like losing an arm.

Talking about the relationship between humans and computers, Musk said: Compared with the speed of human thinking, current artificial intelligence is too slow. Assuming that a computer has the computing power of several more service points, every millisecond is a great improvement for computers, but it is nothing for us. It is very short for computers to understand human natural language. For example, the sound of a whale, which is at most about 100 bytes of information per second, is too fast, too short and too slow for computers. Computers can communicate with you in a way that exceeds your digital flux by hundreds of thousands of times. Computers will definitely find people very boring, just like humans who find people boring. This is the difference between humans and computers that I want to talk about.

Jack Ma: I just came back from Mars, I care more about the Earth

When talking about the topic of "Mars", Jack Ma said: I have no interest in Mars, I just came back from Mars!

Jack Ma asked Elon Musk, I heard you are going to Mars?

Musk said: I really haven't found aliens. We can invest 0.5-0.1% of the Earth's GDP to study multi-planet life. For the first time in the 4.5 billion years of Earth's history, it is possible for humans to live away from Earth. Assuming that the window of opportunity is short, we must seize it. I think this is a wise investment for the future.

Ma Yun said: "Actually, I don't care much about Mars. I admire you for exploring Mars, but I care more about Earth. I don't care about Mars because I think it's easy to go to Mars. We need heroes like you, but we also need people like us who work hard on Earth.

"For the first time in Earth's 4.5 billion years of history, it's possible for life to leave Earth and live there," Musk responded. "Exploring Mars can help us better understand the nature of the universe. Moreover, Earth is indeed likely to be destroyed by external forces, so that we can only move to another planet to live. Humans should be smart and protect the future of mankind through interstellar migration so that civilization will not be extinct."

Jack Ma said: "We only have 100 years to live. We cannot solve all the problems of the future, but we must be responsible for the future. I am not worried about the problems I cannot solve. If I cannot solve it, I will let others solve it. If no one can solve it, then forget it."

Jack Ma said that there is no doubt that he supports the earth and wants to develop well on the earth.

We will have a lot of work, but we don't need to work a lot

Regarding future work, will AI make people unemployed? Jack Ma believes that the real question is, why do we need more work? With electricity, people have more time. With artificial intelligence, people will have more time to enjoy life. He said that in the agricultural civilization period, the average life expectancy of human beings was about 30 years old; in the industrial age, the average life expectancy of people reached 70 years old; in the era of artificial intelligence, people may live to 120 years old. "Don't worry about work, you will have a job." At the same time, Jack Ma reiterated his view: in the future, you only need to work 3 days a week and 4 hours a day.

Musk responded by saying, "I think in the future, artificial intelligence will make work meaningless. Maybe the only job that requires people is to write AI software, and then AI will learn to write software by itself. So I suggest people choose jobs that allow them to interact with people, or do artistic work."

The education system needs to be reformed. Computers are just toys. Their intelligence comes from humans.

Speaking of education, Jack Ma said that the current education system urgently needs reform, and governments around the world will have to deal with this issue in the next ten to twenty years.

Jack Ma: I am actually very interested in education. What skills will people in the future have? I am not worried about people or AI, but I am worried about education. All current education systems are designed for the industrial age, and I also believe that machines will become smarter than humans in the future. So how can we make people in the future smarter? This requires reform of the education system.

In the past, we were always taught to remember what computers can calculate, but this is not what we want. We hope to run faster, but computers are always much faster than people. We need more constructiveness and creativity. How to cultivate children with these qualities is the key to education. I hope to spend more time teaching children to learn art such as painting and dancing.

Computers are just toys. Computers cannot even make a mosquito. So we should have confidence. There are only chips in computers. People have hearts. The intelligence of computers comes from humans. In the next ten or twenty years, humans or every country and every government should focus on reforming the education system to ensure that our children can find jobs in the future and live in an ideal environment. For example, work three days a week and four hours a day.

This is very important. If we don't change the education system that we're in, we're all going to be in trouble. That's how I see it. But don't worry, we will change.

At the end of the nearly one-hour conversation, Jack Ma’s closing remarks were: Believe in us, believe in humanity, believe in young people, it is good to make mistakes, and the end of life is also good.

Tesla's Shanghai "Super Factory" once again demonstrates China's speed, with only 9 months from construction to trial production!

In addition to this wonderful conversation, today, Tesla's Shanghai Super Factory unveiled the first Model 3 produced! Musk will personally witness this domestically produced Model 3.

The day before the news was released, Twitter was updated with pictures and videos from inside Tesla's Shanghai Super Factory, depicting the preparations for the trial production run of Model 3.

In response to this picture, Weibo Red V certified user "Main Writer Tang Bohu" said that Tesla's Shanghai Super Factory is already in the "trial installation state":

It has entered the trial installation stage. It is said that the first Shanghai-branded Model 3 will be unveiled at the opening ceremony of the Shanghai World Artificial Intelligence Conference on Thursday, the 29th. From the vacant lot to the factory to the product in 9 months. It is best watched together with "American Factory". PS: For such an eye-catching thing, there must be a documentary "China Factory" being filmed in these 9 months, right?

In January, Musk stated at the groundbreaking ceremony of Tesla's Shanghai Gigafactory that he expected the factory to start producing Model 3 by the end of 2019. Since then, Tesla China and its partners have been working hard to meet Musk's aggressive timeline, striving to complete Tesla's Shanghai Gigafactory in just a few months. The first pillar of the factory was built in mid-March, just five months ago.

Now it seems that this effort has achieved obvious results, and it is three months ahead of the "end of the year" that Musk said. This is Tesla speed, and even more so China speed!
