The high-performance platform not only streamlines product changeovers, but also reduces changeover times to improve productivity in high-mix environments.
ATI, an electronic manufacturing service provider with more than 30 years of history, decided to purchase a FuzionXC2-37 placement machine at its production base in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA, because it was attracted by the ability of Universal Instruments' FuzionXC2-37™ platform to maximize production efficiency and improve productivity in high-mix electronic production environments.
ATI is well-known for providing a complete set of high-quality electronic production services to customers from various industries. The company is committed to helping OEM companies develop high-quality products and providing customers with the market and technical expertise required for various products. ATI's main production base is located in the heart of Charlotte, covering an area of 3,000 square meters, and has a branch in Gujarat, India. Both plants are equipped with the most advanced technology to cope with a variety of assembly challenges.
The FuzionXC2-37 placement machine can complete high-mix, low/medium-volume surface mount applications on the same device. It is equipped with 272 8mm feeder stations, which can handle multiple products with just one setup. It also provides 29 randomly accessed tray feeder stations and can support strip tape and tube feeders. The FuzionXC2-37 can support circuit boards as large as 508mm x 1300mm, and can handle a wide range of component sizes, from 01005 to components with an area of 150 square millimeters and a height of 25 mm. In particular, it can assemble press-fit components, connectors, micro BGAs, chips and through-hole components.
"In the small batch new product introduction process, the FuzionXC2-37 performs exceptionally well, and we have fully experienced the benefits it brings to the production line." said Kunal Brahmbhatt, vice president of operations at ATI. "The changeover time in the workshop has been reduced by at least 30%, all because FuzionXC has a large number of feeding stations. In the same setting, multiple products can be produced without frequent line changes, which greatly improves our competitive advantage."
He continued, “Our frontline personnel found FuzionXC easy to use, with an intuitive user interface and effective new product introduction tools. In addition, the platform is highly versatile and can be used to produce a variety of product types with minimal reconfiguration, saving time and money. It allows us to provide better service to our customers and accelerate time to market.”
Brad Bennett, Vice President of Customer Service at Universal Instruments, said: "ATI is a long-term partner of Universal Instruments and purchased a GSM placement machine many years ago and has found that the product performance has stood the test of time." He continued: "We are very pleased to find that the company's latest platform is a perfect fit for their production model. We are confident that FuzionXC will bring more benefits to ATI, and we will do our best to continue to meet ATI's production needs."
