To accelerate the development of the Internet of Things industry, Advantech, a global leader in intelligent systems, and Microsoft have jointly created an open Internet of Things platform - WISE-PaaS Internet of Things software platform service. This platform combines Advantech's Internet of Things software solutions and Microsoft's Azure cloud services, and proposes SRP (Solution Ready Package) application service solutions for different industries with a one-stop service concept, lowering the threshold for customers to enter the Internet of Things industry, and further assisting system integrators to quickly build Internet of Things services.
Advantech Technology CTO Yang Ruixiang said that observing the current development trend of the Internet of Things, PaaS platform as a service (PaaS) will be the key to driving the development of the Internet of Things in various industries in the future. Advantech has therefore actively developed the WISE-PaaS Internet of Things software platform service in the past year. This platform integrates six Advantech software suites - remote device management, security protection, industrial control SCADA, image analysis, electronic billboard management, and communication device management; in addition, it also cooperates with third-party strategic partners to provide big data analysis services and machine learning modules, and Microsoft will be an important strategic partner in this development direction.
Yang Ruixiang further added that from Microsoft Windows Embedded to Microsoft Azure, Advantech and Microsoft have a deep cooperation tacit understanding. Therefore, since the introduction of WISE-PaaS IoT software platform service at the beginning of this year, Advantech has assisted nearly a dozen leading customers in developing IoT industry applications, jointly creating new business models, and won the 2015 Microsoft Global Partner Country Excellence Award. In addition, Advantech will officially become a global distributor of Microsoft embedded operating systems at the end of October this year; it is also one of the Asian partners participating in Windows 10 IoT Early Access. Therefore, Advantech will provide customers with a more complete IoT integration solution from end to cloud, from IoT gateways equipped with Windows 10 IoT Core operating system to integrating Microsoft Azure cloud services.
Use themes and standards to build a software architecture environment that is fast and easy to redevelop
WISE-PaaS IoT software platform service has changed the previous concept of a single software package. It uses Standard RESTful API to build an open, integrated and standardized platform for customers, and launches different combinations of thematic (Solution Ready Package, SRP) and standardized (WISE-PaaS Module RESTful API) on this platform. Users can customize items and scenarios (IoT solution) according to industry needs; and self-created scenarios can also be repackaged into different themes and re-launched on the platform. Currently, WISE-PaaS has more than 150 RESTful APIs, and it is expected that by the end of 2015, the total number will reach more than 200. Advantech will continue to integrate strategic partner technologies to enrich the application projects and number of APIs on the WISE-PaaS platform.
In addition, the development environment of the WISE-PaaS IoT software platform service uses the Open Source Node-RED logic drag concept, allowing customers to quickly drag and drop the required software together in a building block manner; and use Dashboard Builder to draw analysis charts for management. In the future, we will continue to invite partners who can create an open environment to join this ranks.
