Big news! Nanjing establishes Integrated Circuit University
The development of the integrated circuit industry has recently become one of the key topics of concern in the domestic scientific and technological community.
According to a report by China Electronics News on September 27: On September 25, the 2020 Third Semiconductor Talent Conference and the "China Core" Integrated Circuit Industry-Education Integration Training Base (Nanjing) Establishment Ceremony, co-organized by the China Center for Information Industry Development, Nanjing Jiangbei New Area Management Committee, China Semiconductor Industry Association, and the Institute of Microelectronics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, was officially held.
At the meeting, Shi Longxing, director of Nanjing Integrated Circuit Industry Service Center (ICisC) and chief professor of Southeast University, delivered a speech on the theme of integrating industry and education to continuously cultivate talents in the integrated circuit industry.
As the saying goes, "Industrial development starts with talent." As the integrated circuit industry is a high-tech industry, talent cultivation is of utmost importance. However, talent cultivation is difficult to accomplish "single-handedly". Industry-education integration and multi-party collaboration are the main development trends in integrated circuit talent cultivation today.
Shi Longxing believes that as integrated circuits have an engineering industry background, industry-education integration is an inevitable trend. Currently, all parties are working together to promote the integration of industry and education in five dimensions: professional institution level, association alliance level, national level, school level, and enterprise level, and the results are remarkable.
The report mentioned: Shi Longxing took Nanjing Integrated Circuit University as an example and introduced that Nanjing Integrated Circuit University is an IC university that was born out of necessity and was established to meet the quantity, quality and diversity of integrated circuit talent training. Compared with traditional universities, the establishment of Nanjing Integrated Circuit University is mainly different in terms of the host, positioning, certificate and title. It is intended to enable the university to train talents around the development of the industry, with a clear positioning goal, which can effectively solve the problem of talent shortage in the current industrial development.
The reporter noticed that the above-mentioned speech by Professor Shi Longxing was the first comprehensive introduction of Nanjing Integrated Circuit University by industry insiders in recent times.
In fact, at the level of professional institutions, the integrated circuit industry has achieved many results in promoting the integration of industry and education in recent years. Professor Shi Longxing mentioned in his speech: In 2009, the Ministry of Education established the National Integrated Circuit Talent Training Base, in 2014, the Ministry of Education established the Demonstration Microelectronics College, in 2019, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Education and other six departments established the National Integrated Circuit Industry-Education Integration Innovation Platform, and in 2020, the State Council Academic Degrees Committee set integrated circuits as a first-level discipline.
In addition, at the "2020 Third Semiconductor Talent Conference and the Establishment Ceremony of the 'China Core' Integrated Circuit Industry-Education Integration Training Base (Nanjing)" held recently, the "China Integrated Circuit Industry Talent White Paper (2019-2020 Edition)" (hereinafter referred to as the "White Paper") was officially released, introducing the development of domestic integrated circuit industry talents.
The White Paper shows that by the end of 2019, the number of people directly engaged in the integrated circuit industry in my country was around 511,900, an increase of 11.04%. At the same time, the industry's attractiveness to talents is also increasing, with an average salary of 12,326 yuan per month, up 4.75% year-on-year.
Experts at the meeting pointed out that with the continuous efforts of all parties in the industry, the contradiction between supply and demand of talent resources that existed before is gradually being alleviated. In the future, the introduction and training of integrated circuit talents will develop towards improving "quality" while maintaining "quantity".
However, according to the data analysis of the above-mentioned White Paper, the industry media China Electronics News believes that from the perspective of my country's current talent structure, there is still a lack of experienced industry professionals, especially key technical talents who master core technologies. In fact, the competition for high-end and leading talents is extremely fierce internationally.
In this regard, Yan Xiaolang, executive vice president of the Integrated Circuit Industry-Education Integration Development Alliance and leader of the National Demonstration Microelectronics College Construction Expert Group, pointed out that in order to effectively solve some of the current problems that restrict the development of the integrated circuit industry, we should focus on the cultivation of top talents, because the shortage of top talents is often difficult to make up. When cultivating cutting-edge talents, we should focus on practical training, allowing newcomers to experience the ups and downs and see the world, so as to exercise and improve their abilities. While ensuring the "quantity" of integrated circuit talent training, we should also ensure the "quality".
