Course Introduction

FreeRTOS is an open source, free RTOS kernel that has been widely used in the development of various embedded products. However, FreeRTOS has few documents and lacks professional technical support and service training. When users use it, they can only study the relevant code by themselves or obtain relevant support through online communities. For this reason, ST brings you an entry-level FreeRTOS training. Through this training, you will learn to develop your own applications based on embedded systems based on the powerful STM32 platform.


class schedule

This course will cover the design of front-end and back-end systems, the benefits of using RTOS, and a detailed analysis of the basic functions of RTOS, including kernel scheduling mechanism, task management, interrupt management, time management, resource management, synchronization and communication mechanism between tasks, etc.

This training combines theory and experiments. It introduces the process of porting FreeRTOS to the NUCLEO-F401RE module based on the STM32Cube firmware library. Based on the NUCLEO-F401RE hardware, learn about the FreeRTOS startup process, how to create tasks, and how to use FreeRTOS system services.

3) Theory: How to develop applications using FreeRTOS

4) Experiment: Use STM32CubeMX to build a FreeRTOS project based on NUCLEO-F401RE

5) Theory: How FreeROTS works

6) Experiment: How to create tasks and implement inter-task communication

7) Experiment: Application of semaphores and mutexes

The application is built based on NULCEO-F401RE platform + STM32CubeMX + IAR EWARM environment.

Preparation

To ensure the smooth progress of the experimental course, please install in advance:

1) STM32CubeMX

2) IAR EWARMv7.8 and above
